THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not to mention waretees, i know if i just ordered 10 factory stubs there be no warrentee but if i did inner and outers id get the full wrentee
Very good point!
There's only so much you can cobble together in the garage!

Not sure what they make them out of, but I'm not really worried about it, at least for the center joint.

The axle drive splines are bored right into the wheel flange itself so rather than have a drive slug, they shorten and simplify the whole package. That lets them use different (and serviceable) bearings inside with a different sealing design, they have left/right threaded spindle nuts depending on which side of the truck it goes on...

Functionally the difference results in a life span of seasons vs. races. Just a much better, more carefully crafted part overall.

I think I'm still leaning towards the 806x option though, mostly because a D44-sized CV ball will look dumb floating in a D50/SuperDuty 60 size spot. :dunce:
Can you not get them to do 60 sized outers for you? Is it 30 or 35 spline coming from the center? If 30 I would think they could just make you a 35 so you can run the larger joint. If not, ctm/spidertrax the whole way.

I agree that the 806 might look better but when is this rig about looks? Haha

What's the pricing on all this going to run? I'm guessing $2.5-3K?

Nice bold 's' on seasons.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The whole problem is, at least from what I understand, you can't get a 35 spline D35 carrier. I'm guessing because the carrier journals aren't large enough to support it and have enough meat on them left for bearings after boring them open.

So you're stuck with 30 spline inners, which I can't imagine is that much of a weak link in a front axle on 35s with ~200HP, even with a stick. Outers Spidertrax only makes their hub bearings in 35 spline I'm guessing? So if you want the stronger/more durable wheel bearings you're obligated to go 35 spline, which means obligated to use 806x joints in order to match up with the inners unless you want to use RCV stuff, right?

Like I said, I'd do whatever I needed to to get the Spidertrax bearings. In reality, I think either shaft situation would work out, but having the bearing last a long time is what I'd be after.

I won't be able to make it on Saturday.

Lame I know.

Should be getting the last of my parts/tools from my parents house on Sunday though.

Just have the press/lathe/engine stand and basically all my spare MJ/Dodge parts from the 3 car garage.

Yeah, that makes sense. What I was saying is I'd be surprised if RCV wouldn't make a shaft that was 30 spline to hit the carrier and then a 35 on the other end for the CV.

Anyone game for panos sat around 2ish
I can't make it.
How'd you even understand that sentence? I had to read your post to understand what he meant.
I speak Rob.

30 spline with the little CV's. Granted I need the same double-spline situation to go to 806x yokes, but the point of my question was to compare similarly-sized/priced components. D60 CV's have no place on this rig. :)

And that was a joke. ;)

I'd be surprised if it's less than that.

That's pretty much the gist of it. 760x joints are right out, in any form. Hence the two options I'm looking at. And no I'm not especially worried about 30-spline being a problem. If it weren't for those bearings I'd probably be running that throughout.

Tim's in contact with RCV, I hear they have some pretty fancy machines there so they may be able to do something we don't know about yet. :)

I'm not even sure when/if I'm working Saturday, gotta make a trip to Logan was gonna stop by on the way back if I had time. Actually have no idea when I'm working next week.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

why is it so hard for to figure out what the numbers in a serial number mean when i work for the company that generates the serial number
