well, im buying that chevy. picking it up friday! pretty clean, definetly tell rockers and cab corners were done. looks like a legit job, kid has recipts from the dealer of a clutch being done, brakes, rear shocks, knock sensor, ball joints, tranny flush with spec'd gm syncromesh manual tranny fluid.

Adam, I think you're an idiot for buying a Rover of that vintage and so does my friend who has owned a million of em, but I also KNOW I'm an idiot for buying two comanches, two cherokees, and a 5 ton military truck, so, well, it takes one to know one I guess.

What's the fun in having something truly 100% reliable anyway? If I get3 years out of it without any major repairs I'll consider it money well spent. Hell, a head gasket overhaul kit is $195 from roverparts.com.

It's before the GEMS ignition/OBD2 stuff.. Apparently it's easier to manage bc there is no timing computer or whatever. It's an auto, I did find a manual but it was almost 200k miles and no where near as nice as this one... This is an auto. Thanks John, hopefully it serves me well.

The manuals apparently have a really common failure on the transmission tailshaft spline, it's square cut (the splines are more like keyways) instead of involute so they get worn/hammered down to nothing and the splined shaft becomes a round shaft. The rover wizard I quoted has one, fortunately his hasn't stripped out... yet.

They are also fairly rare, so if you find one for a price you can stomach, even in crummy shape, and think you might want to swap to a manual in the future, pick it up.

This one has the upgraded gearbox output on the auto according to Wikipedia, and if it lasts long enough and I really want to keep it I want be ****ing around with swapping land rover shit... Straight to LSX. The body and frame are in 100x better shape than my XJ was. And that's a BIG if on that swap lol
