Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Dave apparently you can stuff a bunch of 47/48re parts into a 46re to beef it up a bit, I have a howto on jeepforum on doing it saved on my computer at home I can get for you if you want. Plus a shift kit with some mods to make it actually pump oil in P/N so the damn thing doesn't cook itself so fast and they supposedly aren't that bad.

It's gotta be fo realzies, Jeepforum said it was doable... "they can't put anything that isn't true on the internet"

anyone have a good source for Bilstein shock bushings? Just picked up a set of 5150s for the front of my jeep and dude was running hoops so he trimmed off one side of the top bushing (at least i think that's why...).

I've heard of that, curious to see that write up if you can find it.

I love toolmaking. I'm hating this cnc job I'm running at the moment is production work and going from running a wet grinder to a okuma lathe with a 45 second cycle time and or that job is ****ing loud.

Apparently Harbor Freight bottle jacks don't like cold. Both the one on my press and the cylinder on my engine hoist aren't pumping, and in doing some reading it seems like that's not unheard of.

I didn't have any fluid on hand to try topping them off with so I quit for tonight, gonna mess with them tomorrow I guess.

That's the funny thing, the guy is a pro transmission rebuilder and showed a million pics of the process and all the pitfalls etc. It is a great writeup, ill try to find it in a few.

I took the bottle jack off the press, turned it upside down and shook it, hit the base/valve area with a hammer a few times, and it worked again.

Figured that method works for other Harbor Freight tools, why not give it a try?

Dinner break then back to fab'n.

edit: that new 10" sliding compound miter saw I got kicks ass. Not even something I had in mind for it, but putting a piece of 8" flat plate on it and using the sliding action to rip a straight cut across it in 10 seconds is a pretty cool shop function.

Do I gear the 8.25 or scrap it for a 44 or 9 inch?
The 8.25 already has a locker and I found the gears for it for $150 with the install kit.
