if all else fails i can get a pontiac grand am
i saw plenty of 100k-130k WJ overlands on CL in nice shape for ~$5k
I went back to a jeep like I had in highschool. more practical, easier/ cheaper fixes, and just as much fun as bigger shittier jeeps
Lots of WJ's available for less than half that needing an engine.. buy a quality rebuild and drop it in.
Can you use the work car for stuff besides work?
A lot of commercial insurance policies won't cover accidents etc if it's being used outside of the scope of the job...
No, and I'm not at that point yet so I'm not worrying about it.
I was planning on subframe connectors regardless, stock wheel wells and SS rims with plain jane radial car tires. It was mono leafs out back, at a minimum its getting new multi leafs and like caltracs or some sort of traction bar. I'm aiming for 450ish HP on motor, might add a little spray or forced induction. Its going for more sleeper pro touring, stock exterior/interior looks with under the hood being the only give away. I'll probably buy a custom front subframe too with coil covers/ rack and pinion stuff. I gotta price out rear suspension to decide if maybe I should just 4 link the rear.
Anyone near baltimore?
I'd want that sorted out before I sold a DD. Big risk to take if it takes you a lot longer than planned to get your next vehicle.
It's not like I don't have any money. If it comes down to it I can go buy a $1000 XJ
What happened to the Volvo 740 hipstermobile?
Good plan, I am still running the old style slapper traction bars, but want to change them for caltracs. Those custom front subframes are really nice, and if mine was in bad shape I probably would have gone that direction. I used all Hotchkiss suspension, which lowered the car almost 2". It rides really nice now, and handles really well when I steer with the gas pedal. When your ready to do wheels and tires, do your research on what you can fit and backspacing needed. I worked with Newstalgia Wheels, and got custom backspace 17" American Racing wheels. I fit 275 40 17's on the rear. They have SS rims in 17's, they look great on pro touring builds.
