If it's something that absolutely cannot be screwed up, ram edm is the most effective way to do it. Hammer + pointy punch to shatter the tap works well, or there's the pronged tools to try to spin the tap out that you mentioned. Personally, I prefer plunging an end mill + helicoil or Keensert if there is enough wall thickness.Getting a broken tap out SUCKS. I think Snap-On, Matxo etc make a special tool to remove them, but I bet it still isn't fun.
You got lucky. Did you get them at WT tool before they moved?I've been using a chinese set of taps cheaper than the harbor freight set for like 5 years.
I'll be there, Ross is (should be) bringing the trans. It's a complete tranny I just need the valve body so we can pull it out in the parking lot or at sams house 10 mins away

Alright sweet.
Things works perfect and everything correct? 23 spline? (Obviously needs a valve body.)
Nope, amazon. They were the cheapest taps I could find and didn't give a shit at the time and they keep working. I have better taps but I end up always using the chinese ones. I've used good taps and all I notice is how much better they cut, so nicer to cut with but they still break if you're not careful. I wouldn't worry AT ALL about a HF set. Most people don't use taps under a 1/4" for what we do on jeeps so big ****ing deal. You're tapping by hand too so just feel it out. They're cheap taps that won't get used much probably, nothing to worry about.
yeah the powerstoke wouldnt of made itIm out for today. I bought steering, naxja membership, and powerchoke parts so I'm broke. Making a 180 mile trip wouldn't be to smart. And Pat gave some one else Doug's tires I believe?
