Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Same thing on his I believe, actually.

93 down vs 94 up is the internal vs external slave changeover and also the 11/32" to 3/4" pilot snout changeover. So he needs that pilot changeover.

I don't know the crank bore diameter changeover but old ones are goofy size and new ones with an external slave setup use an FC69907 pilot bearing. IIRC either the part you listed or the FC69907 will work, not sure which because I don't remember the crank bore on an 89 4.0.

edit: clutch should be the same, but buy clutch/pressure plate for the later trans and flywheel (if you're replacing it) for the earlier one, since you need the RENIX CPS notch pattern on the edge not the HO pattern.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Jeep forum has a couple good write ups on this 99% sure it's the cj with the 305 I read a ton when I was goin to out an external slave ax 15 in my 89 mj

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's the "leans ax15 write up" won some contest for it

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a few arc-fault breakers in my main panel...had one of 'em keep tripping because of a dirty 3-way light switch. That was annoying to figure out. No nuisance trips otherwise but those circuits are relatively underutilized right now.

Spent about 4 hours in the garage tonight in ~20* temps, wasn't too bad. Got a bunch done, kinda keeps ya moving. Although my beer got ice chunks in it. :(

saw a nice small propane heater in tractor supply last week for $90 thinking about picking one up, runs off the little colman type tanks

If that puts out enough BTU's to be worth a damn, it's gonna eat through those tanks ****in' fast.

I have a kerosene heater in my garage right now but I don't even bother using it. Zero insulation on the roof and open soffits do not make for efficient space heating.

Sucks because I could really use heat out there now, but that'll have to wait til next year.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I run a torpedo heater with all my windows and doors closed. It gets nice and hot, and when I get light headed I just go outside for some fresh air.

How bad is swapping a distributer on the 4.0? When I changed the cap one of the nutserts was broken off, and now the cap is shaking/ticking pretty bad.

I did that to red jeep when I first bought it and tuned it up, broke the whole ear off the distributor. I pulled like 8 out of the junkyard and kept the one with the least play. I just played attention the where the rotor was pointing, pulled old one, and put new one in so it was pointed the same way. Easy cheesy.

Not too bad, buy a new gasket for it. The worst part is getting it retimed, if it's a tooth off it'll run like shit, just mark exactly which direction the rotor pointed before removing it. The teeth are spiral cut on the drive gear so it'll turn a bit as you install it, it may take a few tries to figure out which is the right tooth.

Try heating the aluminum around the screw with a propane torch and twisting the stub of the bolt out with vise grips first, though. I've never seen one with nutserts so I'm guessing one of the screws sheared off?
