I have my Cherokee with me for the snowstorm now. Great time to find out that the windshield sprayers don't work. Old fluid might be frozen in the lines, but I can't hear the pump making noise and its too hard to get to in the snow right now.

I am mad they are almost brand new. but I bought them used so I cant warranty them or what ever slick people do.

that does suck. rubber isn't cheap.
Should my local hardware store/lumber yard have decent quality 1x3 strapping? The crap at HD is twisted and cracked half the time.

Its funny watching you guys talking about wiring. I wired my entire garage, pulled the meter, and swapped panels. Just finished one of the 220 plugs today. Almost all insulated (thanks Adam!!) and got the walls painted. Heater/stove is next.

Where can I get a piece of wood like this? I'm planning to use it as a headboard just like in this pic. If I have to put bowties in to keep it from splitting as in this piece, so be it. Call my local wood mill and see what they have?
I'm not the most knowledgable about wood, but I'm guessing this is hickory...?
Should I expect this to be expensive or cheap (per board foot) i know it's a lot of wood, but I don't know if they typically just discard stuff like this as firewood or what.

To do it right with nice old salvage wood, it is not gunna be cheap. Check a restoration/salvage company for something. There's a place in Cambridge near Alewife that has giant pieces like that.

I heard there is a specialty wood place in Stoughton that does all types of exotic & rare, and good quality various kinds/cuts.

Otherwise you're gonna have some piece of shit piece of wood that will never look as nice. You want something that is seasoned and weather, not green or growing anymore. Ideally to get something nice like that pic that really has some nice color/grain, something dredged up would look beautiful. After being underwater for a while, the log will suck in all the sediments and when the piece is cut, it makes an exposure like that. A very popular thing to do with those cuts is make a mantle top on say an expose brick fireplace.

I use to find pieces that big near my parents house in Hull a few years back washed up on the beach. My brother's buddy offered to pay $$ for good pieces but I just sent them his way free.
