THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Any suggestions on front winch bumper that look nice on a clean stock XJ, that aren't a park bench, and don't require cutting of the grill?

I like the looks of AJ's.
Unfortunately I think anything that doesn't suck the winch into the grill (cutting) or cut of the crossmember and mount it there is not going to also function as a park bench. No easy way to add a 6.5" wide winch plus a fairlead without adding it dimensionally.

Didn't Colin have to fight with AJs for months on Tinky Winky's bumper?

x2. I think you're asking for something that physically just isn't possible.

And yup, I had to wait about 5-6 months for that bumper. Granted that was about 4 years ago so he may be good now. I have no idea.

Detours backbone is another option

That's what I have, doesn't stick out too bad.

Buy a simple one and modify it for a hidden winch.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll throw in my $.02 if you want.

If there is anything you can do to avoid renting, do it. Once you have rent payments on top of utilities and everything else, it makes it near impossible to save up for a down payment on a house.

Luckily I get along with my parents really well and could deal with the hour commute to work, so I avoided looking for an apartment and stayed with them which allowed me to save for a down payment.

I can understand wanting to get out and not live with parents anymore (believe me, I get it, I never even lived away during college ), but it's worth it once you finally have the money to move out.

I don't know your financial situation or if you get along with your family, nor if there are any first time home buyer incentives in NY, but that's just my $.02.

BTW, I didn't know you went hunting. SICK DEER, KID.

I get along fine with my parents. I really dont feel like I have to get away from them. its more the fact that with mine and laurens work schedule we only see each other about once a week for a few hrs. which is hard when your engaged.

thats why Im looking for something as cheap as I can get it. and were still looking. she wants this more than I do because I dont think she grasps how much it will cost to rent. well see what happens.

Aren't you like a carpenter or some shit? Just build a sweet tree house. Won't have everything one would look for in a living situation, but hey, can't be worse than where Ken lives.

BAM! Joke about Ken's house.

Hell I'm married and only see mine for a few hours a week and those are usually sleeping!

It's tough, but I'm with Colin. Avoid renting if you can.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah it's hard when you're engaged/newly married and want to see your significant other a lot.

Kate and I have been engaged over a year and often only see each other twice a week due to work/school schedules.

You could always sit down with her and go over you guys budget and think about what it will mean for any house plans in your future.

BAM! I pay no rent, just property taxes, don't have to deal with roommates or parents, and can do whatever I want, including throwing shovels through bedroom windows.

I pay no rent, have heat, spend most of my time outside of my house anyway.

I believe that's check, but, what's more is that the cars within close proximity of my house NEVER spontaneously explode.

I should say I am quite jealous of Ken's collection of garbage. When I get a house you can bet your ass I'm gonna have mounds of garbage of my own. Dude's livin the dream down there. Except I do enjoy modern day comforts such as windows and doors or whatever but I know that's not Ken's style.

I've disposed of most of the demolition debris, actually. Looking forward to the day when the house is completely gutted and I don't have to ever deal with horsehair plaster, rotten wood, or rockwool again.
