Wait, you're putting a 98 4.0 into an 01? If I understand correctly... talk to Adam, he's the one who knows how to do that properly.

You should be able to use the motor, but head to exhaust manifold port pattern is going to be the problem. Also coil rail mounting.

If you don't mind slapping a TUPY 0331 head on it (few hundred bucks) you can just bolt the thing in and call it a day. That's all I know.

Yes, I am. But I've already solved all the issues you mention. Basically curious if i need to swap pcm's for the auto to manual swap.

Correct me if I am wrong but yes.
The auto PCM looks for signals from the tranny. With the manual you will not be putting then out. But if you can live with jumping the nss out and with the cel you can run the auto PCM.

Depends, are you gonna sticker it?

Yes: yes. You need an 01 manual 4.0 tuned ECU, a 00 manual 4.0 california emissions tuned ECU will also work.
No: ignore the CEL and it'll run fine. Idle may be a little high as the automatic ECU compensates for the drag from the torque converter in drive/reverse. It may also be very angry about the NSS being missing but who cares.

what if i get an earlier pcm? will that freak the system out or let me bypass the 4 o2 sensors in the exhaust manifold.

You can also get someone on here to retune the ECU to a manual tune... I know Talyn and sidewaysstarion know a guy who has done work for one or both of them.

I really wish I knew the JTEC OBD2 interface/ISO9141 KWP2000 K-line reprogramming, I'd hack on ECU reprogramming a bit myself. But I've got too much shit to do to figure that out for a long time yet.

4link experts, need some help, was gonna copy the clayton kit for arm lenths for the rear of my xj but add 4" since im gonna have a 4" stretch, lowers for a clayton kit are 37-5/8 for the uppers and 34-3/4 for the lowers, to work with the balisitic lowere mounts i gotta make the lower mount a inch shorter then planned, is this gonna **** shit up or no?
uppers will be 41-5/8 and lowers will be 37-3/4
