x2

If you're not planning on keeping it then we could give a shit less what you spend your money on. :D

It's only when you're stuck paying for it for the next 30 years that you gotta take a step back...

My BIL just got one last weekend on his property near Schoharie NY, he dropped off some small steaks and stew cubes for me yesterday. First (non-target-range) shot with his new .30-06 that he and I have been working on this year. One of these weekends I'm gonna go up with him to see what I can get with my .308. I'll get details from him on Thursday when I see him and my sis for thanksgiving dinner.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh and I figured Id post this just to drive Bill Insane.

Im thinking of going to look at this place to rent

I know its not much, but its cheap, will give me incentive to move out of it sooner than later, and beats the hell out of an apartment complex.

I'll throw in my $.02 if you want.

If there is anything you can do to avoid renting, do it. Once you have rent payments on top of utilities and everything else, it makes it near impossible to save up for a down payment on a house.

Luckily I get along with my parents really well and could deal with the hour commute to work, so I avoided looking for an apartment and stayed with them which allowed me to save for a down payment.

I can understand wanting to get out and not live with parents anymore (believe me, I get it, I never even lived away during college ), but it's worth it once you finally have the money to move out.

I don't know your financial situation or if you get along with your family, nor if there are any first time home buyer incentives in NY, but that's just my $.02.

BTW, I didn't know you went hunting. SICK DEER, KID.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Correct me if I am wrong but yes.
The auto PCM looks for signals from the tranny. With the manual you will not be putting then out. But if you can live with jumping the nss out and with the cel you can run the auto PCM.
Cherokees don't have PCM's. They have ECU's, and a separate TCU to control the auto tranny.

Whoah I was unaware that was a thing. That would be handy. I'll look into it. Thanks

The PCM on my dad's wrangler is a reman. He sent it out to a place as a core when it was going haywire and they gave him a retuned one.

Rob, your old Jeep is no longer in my possession.

I saw, was it sold to someone whose gonna build it or part it?

I was tempted to buy it just to drive it into a river so we could stop having to hear mark talk about it.

Build it. Sold to a guy who works with Dundy.

Ha, because I'm on here so much Carmelo. I miss you!

Really odd fact that no one around here knows because 2.5s are rare and 2.5 autos are even rarer - 2.5L automatic 91+ XJs use the same JTEC ECU hardware, but it's actually a PCM on those because it controls the chrysler automatic they used (excepting 87-90 2.5/autos, which had an AW4 with a different BH+torque converter, don't know if they had a PCM or an ECU.) I didn't even know they made 2.5/autos after '90 till recently. Sadly it was a 3 speed auto (iirc the same one as a YJ/TJ got) and therefore got some stupid gearing like 3.07 or 3.55 so it could actually reach highway speed in 19 minutes or so.

Dodge fullsize vans and pickups as well as ZJs, YJs, and TJs use the same ECU/PCM hardware as XJs as well, and they all have PCMs. I'm not sure what the rare 1993.0 AW4 ZJs had, but I bet Pat/crew know, or know someone who knows.

You are 100% correct that 4.0 XJs never had a PCM however.

I think I've seen a handful of 4 cylinders in XJ's in my Jeep days. That makes sense they had a PCM if they had the same 3 speed the TJ's had. But ya I was referring to the 4.0's.

That had the leakiest 4.0 ever reassembled.
Fixed it for you.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll never forget when Dundy and I saw a 2.5/AW4 in a JY with factory 4.56s. We didn't grab the axles because they were a disco D30 and a D35. JUNK.

I do remember the thing being decked out though. Sunroof, leather interior, etc.

Told you the trans leaked after sitting awhile, motor had all new seals and gaskets cept for oil filter orings

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Remember when a factory 44 rear was a sick mod, and 60's under a xj was unheard of

You told me you saw two!

And yeah I saw a 2.5/auto at Sams once but I was working 5 days a week in NYC and it was january so I was spectacularly uninterested in spending half of my Saturday cutting a vac disconnect d30 out of a junker for uncertain profit.

I've also seen two 2.8 V6 cherokees there. I should have pissed on them.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Any suggestions on front winch bumper that look nice on a clean stock XJ, that aren't a park bench, and don't require cutting of the grill?

I like the looks of AJ's.
