Got some cheap swampers bias so I'm working with a friend fitting them now

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Keep that racist bullshit to yourself, or better yet smarten the **** up and realize your prejudice is based on nothing but fear and ignorance.

I won't lie, it took me about five hours to figure out what the asterisks were hiding so I could realize why it was racist.

[stir the pot]
Using the term 'gay' like a lot of the guys in this group tend to is on the same plane as what Luke said, yet no one bats an eye.

Haven't met a gay dude yet that doesn't use the term gay in the same way. Don't know any lesbos that well though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ready to race. I just strapped the spare tire to the shock crosstube and welded a small foot underneath it to keep it from sliding out the back.

Added some rear reservoir mounts and tabs for the shoulder harnesses. I hated the wrap-around mounting as I had to adjust my shoulder harnesses every few minutes last race.

Hopefully my shock joints arrive tomorrow/thursday night...I have no faith in them anymore.

Hey Kieth got a tow rig
He did? Isn't he trying to sell his XJ?
That's not funny
Keep saying things like that and we'll vote you in and you'll have no choice.

awesome!

Better come up with a backup plan for those shocks.

I bought a truck, but it's no tow rig. More of a oversized and pretty DD. 2003 Chevy 1500 with the 4.8. I have too much stuff going on to even consider keeping the jeep and going wheeling that I won't get into on here. I plan on going to rocktober fest with you guys.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ZJ did not want to start this AM for the second day in a row. Cranking times have been extended lately when it's been off for several hours or more, might be time for a fuel pump.

On top of that, the water pump I did last week hasn't done much to keep highway temps down. I was running a hair over 210 this morning with a 180* thermostat and A/C off. Temps come down some below 210 once I get off the highway, but are still running hotter than they should be with that thermostat. Fan clutch looks recent, but not sure if I need to do that and the radiator or what.

Jeff, want some of my monies?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why are you running a 180º thermostat? It's a 4.0 right? They're supposed to operate at 210º.

The thermostat will do nothing to help keep the temps DOWN, their job is get the temps UP quicker. All you do is prolong the inevitable if your cooling system can't keep up.

Your fan isn't doing much on the highway, it's all about airflow and coolant flow. If the water pump you put in sucks, that won't help. Any blockage in the radiator won't help. A stack of additional coolers in front of the radiator doesn't help.

The best setup I had was a CSF 3 row, flowkooler pump, stock mech fan. I don't think I ever overheated in my XJ nor my MJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Agreed. 180 degree thermostats are a bandaid, and one that will hurt your warmup times and fuel economy in the winter.

Guess I'll add a 195* thermostat to the list.

The water pump is from Crown and is new as of 2 weeks ago. I also blew as much of the shit as I could out of the radiator and A/C condensor the other week that I collected last time I went wheeling. Seemed to help slightly, but I'm wondering if the radiator may be junk. Looks to be original and it's showing a lot of the green copper tarnishing/rot near the bottom but isn't leaking.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It's probably about time for replacement, if you can knock fins out by brushing them with your finger, it's definitely time. By that point, there's only corrosion holding them in and the fins aren't actually dissipating any heat.
