THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Decided to run a 5k with my buddy and my girlfriend in October. Except I was like "**** I've never ran 3 miles in my life" a few times I managed to run a little over a mile. So I decided training starts tonight, walked across the street to the track and ran three miles. Bam! Training complete.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just got hit again tonight by a girl in an SUV, on the same area of my car as my accident last year, because she got into the left hand lane again and decided she wanted to go straight. Essentially exactly what happened last time.

Her: "I got in the left lane and went straight"
Me: "I know, but that is the left hand only lane."
Her: "No, I was in the left hand land and continued straight"
Me: "Yes, you continued straight...into me....because you were in the left hand only lane...."
Her: "No, it never used to be like that"
Me: "See how behind us there are three lanes, and in front of us there are only two?"

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I so do not want to be at work today. Going to pick up some new body parts with a friend from work for our trucks (he has a '99 CTD). His needs fenders and possibly a driver's side door and mine needs a passenger side door.

Then heading out tomorrow morning to the race. Jeff gave this guy Dave my number and he's heading down too so we'll actually have a small group heading down from up here. Can't wait.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Speaking of which- put in a new radiator, new upper and lower hoses and new 195* thermostat last night. Still running around 217 on the highway, maybe 2-3* higher with the A/C on full blast. I got to work and idled it in the parking lot for a few minutes with the A/C still on full blast, and the temp started climbing.

Last night, it was idling around 217* or so according to the gauge. Used an IR thermometer I have, determined that the temp gauge is pretty close to accurate by measuring the temp on the outside of the thermostat housing. Water pump appears to be working- showed a 75-80* drop between the upper and lower radiator hoses.

I'm guessing at this point that there's either air in the system (burped it some last night, however) or I need a fan clutch? Any thoughts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

With the ZJ off, try turning the fan by hand. Should have a decent amount of resistance if the engine is warmed up/hot.

If it basically free wheels, then yup fan clutch.

I read somewhere it was like 5 turns before it starts to lock up? I'll check that before I grab lunch later.

The sitting and warming up had me thinking it was the fan- air in the cooling system should just cause an overheat condition since it can't move past the water pump well, correct?

I was telling another friend the same thing yesterday... Buy a damn clutch. They're like 35 bucks and the life of em is about 75-100k miles at MOST. If the motor is hot and you step on the gas to accelerate and you can hear the motor over the fan you need a new clutch.
