Yep... gotta cover the pinion with something too if you do it in the housing. I'd probably give it a try, few layers of duct tape over the carrier bearings to keep spatter out, then shoot antispatter spray everywhere else (I forgot they made that) and go to town.

Wouldn't be surprised if it wrecked it though.

Oh, make sure the ground clamp is directly on the carrier, not on the axle tube, unless you want arc pitting all over your carrier bearings. That would make it easy to tell how fast you're going with your eyes closed but I think it'd get old after a while.

yea i've seen a few brake swap writeups where they just used regular 3/8 x 1 1/4 bolts with nuts in place of the knurled studs, so whatever pitch you want to use. I think you have to grind a flat spot on the head where they sit against the axle tube but nothing an angle grinder can't handle in 10 seconds.

Yep, they have a flat spot on the stock ones to clear the tube to flange weld on the housing. I figured they used fine thread for a reason (more controllable torque?) but you're the MechE not me here.

cool beans. lemme know, im gonna just leave the doors off lol. if it rains, itll dry out. pretty sure i can get by with just that driver's side plug in the pic. all the other ones are salvageable. this is just making me set a fire under my ass about getting some real molex connectors or something to unplug everything at once.

Get some of those badass military Canon connectors. Warning, they're expensive, I recommend ebay.
