Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Guys... could use a lil input.

Helping my bud part his old Jeep that he bought new. It's a 94 YJ, looking for input on what to ask for the axles in it. D30 4:10's and 35 4:10 with ARB.

Axles have better than 100K on gearset and 35 has new axleshaft bearings. Complete assemblies. What should I ask and what should I expect to get out of them?

Thanks..

I'd start at 700 and wouldn't take less than 500 for the pair. Sucks they're YJ axles, not worth much. if they were TJ axles they'd be worth a grand easy IMHO

I'm sure you can find the right person to pay over 1000 for it, but those people are few and far between now. People with YJs are usually broke kids or on tons with V8s already.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I bought a running, driving, ready-to-wheel XJ with 31s, 4.10s and a rear ARB for $750.

You found a great deal..

Point taken. Tried finding a comparable set of axles at JF.. didn't see anything. I'll pass it along, thanks for the input guys!

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd pull the ARB and sell it separately, but throwing in a stock carrier and doing carrier shims/bearings on a d35 might be more than you want to put into it time wise.

Without the locker you could probably get 4-500 from the right person... and the bare locker is probably worth 4-500 to some doofus polishing a 35 "because he has so much money into it already." I'd take anything over 100 for each axle (less locker) though, 4.10 and 3.07 YJ axles are everywhere.

I did get a quote of 800 bucks for one from a junkyard a few months ago, but they'd had it listed for 3-5 years and weren't amused by me laughing. I wonder if they'll ever get that?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anyone have experience pulling apart a steering colum on a 95+ xj? gotta weld on the sleeve for a quick disconect steerinf wheel and dont wanna melt the electrical, i see some tamper proof torx screws, where do i get the torx bit for this

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

95+ aren't that bad, much easier than 94-. I hate GM columns.

You can get a massive set of tamperproof bits and a 1/4 hex magnetic screwdriver handle for like 25 bucks at sears, I love it, it's got tamperproof EVERYTHING. I use the tamperproof torx the most though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ill try to swing by sears on my way back from epping or i may just order a set off amazon

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone got a set of good stock leafs?? My cousin's got a stocker and said it was making a noise..took it for a ride around the block, took a look and the small leaf on the PS is snapped. And the rest of the pack is super frowny face

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just remembered the conversation I had with Bill right before everyone left for NACFest...

So we were seeing the bellhousing and about 3/16" of cast alloy housing separating it from the ring and pinion. :gee:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have to wonder whats wrong with me.
I am honestly debating 8.25 and hour vs 13 an hour.
Stay were im at and keep the lower pay or move into a machine shop with a garunteed 50 hour work week, 13 bucks an hour and benefits.
