With all water antifreeze drained, those holes plugged an covered, old oil drained an break in oil poured in, then engaged the starter to spin the engine an coat the cylinder walls with oil, used break in oil instead of fogging oil due to break in oil holding up longer, an preventing internal rust for a lot longer

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Why was there no visible oil coating in the cylinders when I saw it at Sam's house a few months ago then? And white aluminum oxide corrosion from water in the throttle body?

I'm out of this debate at this point as I wasn't involved in the transaction, but I hate to see a friend get screwed.

Def should have been oil coating, I even sprayed the whole block down with marvel mystery oil, some old times swore by doing that, I even pulled all the plugs an sprayed mystery oil into each cylinder. If he drains the oil he will see there was new synthetic oil in the pan, Hopefully it works out for him

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just got back home. Colin ended up finishing, got 13th in LWB class and 60th overall out of more than 120 racers starting. Just about 50 miles over all, 5 laps total, his fastest lap was just under 30 minutes and topped out at 53.3 MPH.

No major issues other than a steering return hose was rubbing on a belt and got a small hole that drained all the steering fluid...we hiked back to pits and got a new hose & fluid, all good after that.

Colin's gay kill switch (the one mounted behind the truck) flipped itself back to 'off' twice from bouncing around. That was stupid.

The shocks were completely faded before mile #1 and sometime before completing lap 2 the front urethane bumpstops had both exited the vehicle, along with one of the rear shocks and the Kia bump on that side. So needless to say it rode like ass all day long but the motor ran awesome and we barely had to get out of the truck.

The bumpstop towers held up fine :D and with some better shocks/bumps and fuel system (the way it is now the last 3-4 gallons in the cell are basically useless, and with a 15 gallon cell and 2-3 MPG we had to fuel often) I think it'll be a pretty reliable racer.

p.s. Ken, Colin's got that t-case and the other forks n stuff. Not sure what you're tryin to do with it but good luck regardless.

Awesome! Just finishing his first real race is pretty cool. And that's a pretty decent placing, too.

Bumpstop issues? He shoulda drank more PBR I guess.

Thanks a ton for sending the t-case up, let me know anytime you need random parts and I'll see if I can grab em at the JY or bring them to NACFest. You'll see what I have planned for it :eyes:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Compression tested the motor. Checked out fine. Maybe im hearing things

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thanks for the recap Chris. I had a blast racing and hanging out with everyone. If you see Tim/Rob/Rick anytime soon Chris, tell them I appreciate everything they did (food, fuel, pitting for me, etc.). I can't believe how accommodating everyone was.

I'm beyond happy with how the MJ held up. The bumpstop towers took an absolute beating as Chris said and there are 0 signs of any movement. The 440 ran real smooth, and other than the oil getting hot, the coolant temps stayed under control the entire time.

I'm gonna talk to Tim about a new fuel setup (prob a 32 gal) and I'll probably be pricing out some Fox suspension items in the near future.

How many gallon is yours now, like a 15? 32 just seems huge, but then again you have a bed so the room isn't really a problem I guess. Any particular reason for the Fox stuff? I know Sam wasn't too happy with them I believe. Look into the Profender stuff, if/when I got coilovers and stuff, I'm probably gunna buy from them. Ive seen a bunch of positive reviews and the price is good. Ive been happy with my airbumps from them.
