Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wouldn't compare a semi to a tow truck at all. In fact, driving a tow truck is more like driving a work van, with no rear window. Maybe easier even. They steer great, the mirrors show you everything you need to see, wheel lift sticks out a little, compensate for that. A pickup truck with a trailer on the back is probably harder to drive.

That's what I'm saying, it's way easier. If you're lazy about it, you're going to make mistakes. It comes down to behavior over skill in a lot of scenarios.

I asked Travis to see if Scott would come down to do it. If like Dukie said is true and some one can knock out chunks of it, replace and fill in as needed, then repair all the cracks, that would be perfect. We have cracks in the back of the building, not in the blocks, just the cement separated. He would probably have them do that too.

We have one big roof leak, I could even fix it though. The walls, and we need some new sockets and the building would be half decent for like another 20 years.

We've had ONE good driver, he was part time. Probably the craziest driver out of any of our other guys, behind the wheel of a car. Lazy in every aspect I can think of, but could drive the truck into any spot the trucks could fit. I really think it's just a matter of people not being good at what they do. It's not literally impossible to find someone good at it, it's just rare that they're actually good at their profession. It's not as if my dad pays on the low side either. Pay rate is right on with similar jobs, no overnights, rarely work weekends, 8-4:30 hours.

I forwarded stuff to him, idk if he tried sending you a email or whatever. I'll text him and tell him to get in touch with ya.

No big deal if he can't do it either obviously, we just don't personally know anybody else that does masonry. If he even has some idea how much it would cost so to give my dad a rough idea of what to expect.

Carmelo if you snap some photos of the damage up top and how the roof structure frames into the pier (if at all) I can provide some better advice. I'm a structural engineer and I look at ****ed up buildings all day long and tell people how to fix them.

No steel beams like Ken was explaining, the roof is held up entirely by the walls as far as I can tell. These pictures are the best I have at the moment. Up top the blocks don't look broken, just loose. It was probably like that before the hits to the wall, from age. Hitting it surely didn't make it better though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ooof. Yea that's not good for you guys. That's a lot of load going to that pier. It SHOULD already be fully grouted and reinforced with rebar, but my guess is it's not.

It's gonna be a PITA to fix with the roll-up door rails and shit on the back of it. My suggestion is to make a small hole about 3" from the edge of the block to see if the cells are grouted or not.

If they are already grouted, it needs to be replaced entirely to fix it properly, which would involve temporarily supporting the lintel angles above both doors, and some of the roof structure above.

If they're not grouted, you may be able to get away with just knocking some holes in the face of the block and slurrying in some grout to fill the cells.

Either way it's more complicated that just "fix the crack" - without seeing it in person that's the best I can tell you. You may want to have a local structural engineer come put eyes on it.

I found Adam and Sheep on reddit

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't see a place to park an MJ in the back.

Also, that is awesome, but I think it is photoshopped, and can tell from the pixels and having seen some photoshops in my time.

Are my wheelers anything but parked, ever?
