Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

cant seem to get the clips out of the rear drive shaft of the truck, shit is rusted wicked bad, wonder how much a new shaft will cost

Know someone with a torch? I torch out the trunnion and bang out the u-joint towards the inside. Then it's easy to get the clip out, even if you broke it all up and just some slivers are left in there. I guess you don't actually need to use a torch, an angle grinder would probably work.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm going to **** around with yours tomorrow. Believe it or not your's are the most complicated. Since you have a long taper it's not something I can just set in my compound. I have to set over the tailstock first so I'll probably do yours after I finish the other ones.
sounds groovy, and if ya can drill em to whatever the biggst bit is i can pick up a tap/drill kit at hd and finish em up at home

Belt sander but I don't have one.
just machine it with a flap wheel :jester:

My cherokees not going to be happy with me.

Made a deal with my dad. Shes going to be gone in april or so.

92-98 as a replacement has to be a manual.
I forget, how rusty is it? It might be a blessing in disguise, rotted jeeps suck, I have owned several and still own one.

Width of hallway 32", width of drywall lift 42"

FML......I should have married an Amazonian woman
Trick you might not have considered - use pieces of 2x4 to support it. Lean them against the walls at an angle so the ends are about 1" below the ceiling, get the drywall in place, then get a few more 2x4s under it and kick the ends toward the walls to jack it upward. I did my whole bathroom ceiling this way. Building my house alone has made me come up with some pretty creative solutions to problems that come up when you have only two hands.

Price?
RC Hes pissed because it was a $500 beater that I went over bored on and has left me stranded 3 times so far so he wants something more reliable for that much.
where the hell do you get a reliable $500 beater? what planet does he live on? If you buy a car for $500 you're damn well going to be putting stuff in it to make it reliable, scrap cars go for nearly that these days. Hell I sold my van for $500 with a blown transmission and broken brake lines, the junkyard would have given me $400 for it, more if it had been a few years newer.

pound the cap inward with the clip still in, it'll knock all the rust free if you hit it hard enough.

Honestly its not that, its I put the money into my lift and not the engine that pissed him off with it.
I am going to just do a 8.25 and ax15 swap with a new 02 and 24 lb ford injectors. New plugs wire and cap and call it good. If I dont find a AX 15 jeep I like.

Its not to bad to be honest other than the bumper. Or lack their of and rockers.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well, to do an AX15 swap, you need...
ax15
clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, pilot bearing, throwout bearing
master/slave set
pedal box and clutch/brake pedals
front and rear driveshafts are different lengths from autos
4x4 linkages are somewhat different, auto ones won't work afaik. I just pulled a (really rusty) set of manual stuff at the junkyard today with a friend who is swapping his XJ to manual, so I'm going to do side by side measurements off a set of auto linkages and brackets and see if I can't figure out how to convert auto ones to manuals.
crossmember is slightly different (auto one has the bushing mount about 1/2-3/4 lower) and there is an adapter plate from the transmission to the top of the trans mount bushing. I took measurements off my adapter when I had it out to work on the tcase this week, once I draw things up a bit better I will probably post info on it so people can make their own adapter plate instead of scrounging around in junkyards.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hm. Lot of stuff. But I dont think it will cost more than a jeep.
Whats a good one with a Ax 15 go for? $1500?-2000?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

She tries to jump in but she's 4.5 months pregnant

She's roofed a garage and installed a few rooms of wood flooring on her own while I was away so she's not completely worthless, just not gonna expose her to a shitshow while she's preggers
ahh. I see.
Still tell her no excuses! :D

Ahh. Not sure how you get much more reliable at that cost.
