Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Going to see Bill Burr tonight in Boston thanks to Kate.

**** yes.

And I would buy another set of Creepies and throw them on that first gen and go destroy it.

It would be more work to throw the Creepies on. That thing's already haggard.

Where's the show tonight? Coming to the Draft after?

It's at the Wilbur Theater. Starts at 10:00.

Probably just going right home after since Kate has to be up early and my parents, brother/gf, and cousin/gf are all going as well.

Keith - find the gears? If not, no worries. I think I lost your new number, I have the one ending in 13, if that's not the right one text me or something. I'll be internetless for the whole day () due to my grandpa-phone.

Tried to change it, then the new one was just as big.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone know much about oil coolers?

I think I'm gonna run -8 AN line to a cooler with a fan mounted on it. Is -8 too small? I figure thats equivalent to 1/2" and that's the diameter of the main pickup galley anyway. Just use a manual switch with it for now since I'll probably only need it for racing.

I was debating gettin an inline thermostat for it and a temp switch to turn the fan on at 210 or something. Not sure.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How hot was the oil getting?

260º on short bursts to 5-6k rpms. Like staying at 5-6k for 10-20 seconds, stopping for a few seconds, back up there, etc. A few cycles of that.

I figure it's pretty hot considering my gauge only goes to 280º but I have no idea  The only research I've found is "300º bad".

I'm sure that's not too bad, but I can't imagine how hot it would get racing.

EDIT: Oil pressure is normally around 25-30 psi at idle. It got down to about 15 psi at idle when the oil was that hot. The crank and rods were on the looser side of the tolerances so that doesn't concern me TOO much. My uncle was a bit nervous on the temp and pressure, but then I reminded him that it's 10w-30 synthetic.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hey Travis, I'm going shooting tonight after work. Gonna give that ol' .22 a workout. :)

And then a REALLY good cleaning afterwards.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

sweet. Yeah it could use a nice cleaning  I never even shot that one as a matter of fact. The revolvers are nice and clean but the 3 long guns probably ought to be gone thru pretty good ha. Especially the black powder. Might wanna take that dingleberry apart and soak it in stuff or something. As much as I love those things...I hate them

Synthetic?

My SHO motor has a small water-to-oil intercooler at the base of the oil filter. Guys that track those cars say it's adequate enough to keep the oil temps manageable with a stock output motor as long as the cooling system is functioning well and can handle the extra heat input. Guess I'll find out...I'll let you be the guinea pig on this one. :D
