THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have some pics on my phone of what's kind of sketchy on it, I'll upload those in a lil bit. Nothing major. I have Paypal but if you're definitely interested, that's good enough for me, I don't need the money right away.

I didn't have any trips up there planned any time soon, but Dundy wants my radiator and a couple other small things, Sam might want the tires, I still owe Rob a proportioning valve (), now you and the doubler...pretty soon I'm gonna be wishing I'd gone in on Travis's tube order. :dunce:
The other possibility is dropping it off in Jersey City with my friend who still works down there every week. It'd have to be in a heavy garbage bag inside a box because he drives a pretty clean audi, not a jeep...

Sam wants the tires, we just haven't peer pressured him into it like we did the 38s :eyes:

And I know the feeling on the tube, I was a day late and a dollar short  I need 40 feet, if you can find a way to get what you need hauled down to NJ I can throw what you need on an order too if I missed the boat on it.

edit: 2" square tube for LCAs. Am I a dumb redneck or is this a good idea? 2" tube is expensive and I am a cheap bastard.

5-gallon bucket FTW.

And only as dumb a redneck as anyone who's ever run a Clayton's kit.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

guess I'm doing that then, hell with spending money on big DOM.

Good point on the 5 gallon bucket, they are a common implement around both his place and mine.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't know how expensive they are, but honestly I'd have no problem with running round inserts for 2" x .25 DOM inside square tube.

Looks like ~$4 more per insert, so you'd throw down another $16 for 4 square inserts rather than round inserts.

Knowing Ken he'll go for the round

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

4 per insert I might do it the right way.

Probably what will happen is I will discover I can't order them online, then not feel like picking up the phone (my name is Ross), then forget to order them at all, and halfway through building it I'll discover I didn't order them and booger weld the round ones in.

edit: I can order online. DOING IT RIGHT :wantyou:

double edit: nevermind, they are stupid and only make RH threaded, and are 8 bucks each (I bought a 3 link kit, so I already paid for the round inserts.) Not spending 48 bucks on inserts just so I have to buy 3 more heims. F that, round inserts it is.

Ya it's been done, it's still close. Also before you go with 63s consider this. I'm assuming you're using them because you read they're like the king of leaf springs or something. They are long as shit and have a centered pin. My stock rears which are just crown replacements are tits. With those cheap edelbrock shocks they rode better than the fronts, and my fronts were soft. The crown springs I'm betting are thicker(each separate leaf) than the 63s.

If you bob the bed with stock springs and flip them at the same time you can do something like this.

The shorter spring is better for doing something like this since it won't be hanging out the back nearly as far to get dragged on shit. That's the one thing I wish I did when I bobbed mine. With 40s you would be close to the magical 90 degree departure angle.

the departure angle was another concern. 90 degrees would be titties.

was just leaning towards the 63s because they are on every chevy from 88 to now, and available in a ton of different configurations, and there is a big aftermarket for them.

Ask Jeff how much he'll sell you new springs for. You may decide to go new just because how cheap they are. Also I believe the aftermarket for 63s is exactly the same for every other 2.5" wide leaf spring:wow:

Ha!

If I can do anything let me know. I could be the middle man if need be, others have signed up at NACFest and such so it'd be similar.
