THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Filing for a 6 month extension on my cdl permit so I can work on my jeep instead of working on the license. I have had my tube for 2 months now and have yet to touch it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just tested my thermite mix.

It works. Oh, it works.

Doesn't melt through cast iron... yet.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Since no one else is talking about anything, here's what I'm looking at.

The cooling & oil system on these motors is weird:

coolantflow.jpg

There's a little loop of hose that comes out of a water jacket next to the oil filter mount, goes through a sandwiched little oil cooler between the filter & block, then goes up to the thermostat housing. There's also a loop of coolant that runs through the throttle body and IAC, then back to that thermostat housing. Then the upper radiator hose outlet exits under the throttle body via a stupid long water neck, which in my application puts the upper radiator hose about a foot into the cab. Dumb.

The coolant path through the throttle body is useless and can be eliminated, the heater core path can be blocked off as the bypass is internal to the motor, the oil cooler has mixed reviews and can be eliminated in favor of a remote-mounted cooler and filter (which is good because the oil filter & frame in my case are kinda close). So a lot of it can be simplified, but I'm still left with stupid long hose outlets for both the upper and lower hoses.

I'm trying to see if there's a different application water pump or thermostat housing that can be swapped on...even one with a 90* elbow in it would help for the upper hose situation.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

subies have the heated TB too... idk the reasoning behind it. the lower hose.. can you just stick a hose on the water pump or do you need to use the long ass fitting? looks like its flanged.. get a small piece milled out, weld a piece of pipe on there.. viola, smaller hose. the upper one still sucks though bc of where it is. these things were designed to be used in boats, which is why half of it is retarded.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

x3 from another guy who can do that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Water pump has a flange on it:

So yes I can modify that tube in some way, it's shitty cast aluminum so I'd probably just make something.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

In all honesty though since both front and rear are flanged it doesn't look like a big deal, other than probably cutting in the thermostat seat.

Seems like you could just make your own water necks, eliminate all the BS, and have a simple cooling system anyway.

I'd go remote mount oil cooling setup if it even needs it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And on that note how are you plumbing the cooling system?

Braided stainless, tubing, rubber hose, poop pipe, copper tubing, through the frame, up your butt, around the corner?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What's this engine putting out? Like 200hp? Totally worth the effort.

Oh hey Jeff, I SEE YOU READING THIS.

That shit you gave me works, you can tell adam to write it down or whatever he does. ALSO HOW MUCH IS AN O2 SENSOR FOR A 96 JEEP CHEROKEE DOWNSTREAM NONE A DAT UPSTREAM BULLSHIT!?
