not a speck of snow on the ground over here

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Seems like the auto industry is occupying a lot of my time lately.

Just handled a minor situation at the largest manufacturer of OEM wheels in the world...they make wheels for pretty much every car company out there, including the original H1 beadlocks.

Cool.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Maybe I'm just being dumb but do all automotive studs have two different thread pitches (different on either end of the stud)? I Know you said they are 5/16-18 but I'm pretty sure there were 2 different thread pitches; one that threaded into the bellhousing and one that was on the outside for a nut. Maybe that's the standard for automotive applications but I'm not sure...

And the threads looked remarkably clean. They were super corroded from the outside and I thought they were a lost cause (was ready to go get my extra bellhousing and swap that on) but a generous application of heat and ATF/acetone mix and it came out fairly easily and the threads look OK.
that's one reason I was a little confused. I could have sworn the ones in my AX15 were dual thread. I'll have to investigate at some point, unless you feel like pulling the studs out of your spare bellhousing or something. The diagram in the parts catalog didn't show two thread pitches but of course it could be wrong.

As for why they're double threaded - I think it's because they want a coarse thread in the aluminum and a fine thread for the steel nut. Not sure.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have an external slave 2.5L/AX5 bellhousing sitting around. Anyone want it, or need any parts/info from it?

Actually it's in the back of my truck at the moment...

They definitely are duel thread. I'll try and check what the thread pitch is on both ends next time I'm at my buddy's place. The spare bellhousing doesn't have the studs either otherwise I'd just have swapped that one on rather than trying to find replacement studs.

Today's useless knowledge. This:

is called an interrobang. Also written as "!?" or "?!", and used when asking a question in an excited manner, or expressing disbelief.

For some reason, this reminds me of a few of you. :)

ha, you said bang

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

ha, you said bang

It's a portmanteau word with origins in printing press jargon...the question mark is referred to as an 'interrogative point', and an exclamation mark is referred to as 'bang' in shorthand.

'Bang' is also used in mathematical jargon as shorthand for 'factorial':

5! = "5 bang" = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = 120.

The "!" sign is also a relatively modern addition to typewriters. On older typewriters where space was at a premium, you used to have to type a period ".", backspace, and then type an apostrophe " ' ".

Does something seem off here? (besides it being a box for gay euro lights)

How much you wanna spend? I might be able to get you some for a little over face value. My Mom works at the hotel at patriot place. They get tickets to re-sell for packages they offer. I might be able to make something happen for you.

Knee handle vise grips FTW
