Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anybody got Jon's (redneckboarder) phone number? He hasn't been on here in a week and I'm trying to get a hold of him.
I'll text it to you if you answer my text.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh and Mark, this guy in FTR (Mark Dupont) had a sweet scrambler. Wasn't too hot on his engine choice (4.3 TBI) but it worked well for him so can't argue with that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

He said.in Facebook that he got a new number. I'd try him on there.

I don't know his last name, I dunno if I'm even friends with him on the fbooks.

:dunno: haven't gotten any texts from you. I'm assuming its about using my bridgeport?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

5-6 hours until a 3-day weekend. This 5-day week feels like an eternity. I don't think I've worked a full week since before Xmas.

Just found GT500 brake take-off (big brake upgrade) for the mustang on CL. Now to decide... big brake upgrade or slotted rotors w/ good pads. Tough choice.

Big brakes w/ slotted rotors and good pads. Shut up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You don't even need slotted rotors. Just get Hawk HPS pads. They're more than you need for the street. Anything more aggressive than those and you should be running a dedicated set of rotors and pads that get used only when you are beating the bag out of it: aka a track set.

Or buy guns. Or jeep parts.

I agree... except I didn't find the big brake w/ slotted rotors kit used. THAT kit costs $2500 new which is a bit more than I'm willing to spend :laugh3: I found the non-slotted brembo big brake kit (normally $1300) for $700 which is somewhat reasonable, though still a tough choice.

If I do get the big brakes I will eventually upgrade them to slotted rotors... but that's another $800 on top of the brakes themselves so I would put that off for a while... esp since I need new wheels/tires in order to fit the big brakes in the first place. Wheels/tires are already an upgrade I planned to do sometime this spring/summer so I'm fine with that... I've already been keeping an eye on CL daily for a nice/inexpensive set. Just don't have the money to buy the slotted rotors right now.

Valid point... might go big brakes up front w/ new pads and quality rotors all around.

And I've been buying guns. And I have most of the Jeep parts I want, just need to install them. Going to the JY for more tomorrow though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Holy hell that's expensive for a brake upgrade.

Do you drive it that hard all the time?

I could see buying something like if you plan on racing it or something at a track like Anthony said. But for cruising around I don't see the need for it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hell with that. I buy my brake rotors and pads at the junkyard. $75 brake job, axle seals, and disc conversion, bitches!

only ZJ disc ones, and only because they were in great shape and I had already pulled them to get at the backing plates.

Over the next few years I will be slowly building this car until I buy something else for a DD; the older it gets the more I will hopefully be taking it to track days and such...

So yes, eventually I do hope to take it to the track and potentially race it. I figure that while I have a brake upgrade available at 50% off I might as well jump on it even if I don't get full use out of it right away. Then again parts probably won't be going up in price over the coming years so waiting might be a viable option. Esp since I'm sure there will be more people upgrading their GT500s and selling the stock parts.

i can do a brand new disc brake conversion for around that kinda money.

monte carlo calipers are like $9 each
weld on brake brackets are like $10 a pair
rotors are like $18 each
pads are like 20 bucks

(when i did my conversion in 2008-2009 anyway)
