Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What do you perceive to be the advantages?

I don't see a 1350 CV being cheaper than a 1410 single joint, nor does it have as much angle.

We're on High Angle 1350 CV #3 in the diesel Bronco at this point, and after blowing up #4 in the TR Motorsport race rig (mostly stockish Chevy 6.0) we put a single 1410 in there and never looked back.

I just don't like recommending parts I've seen fail so many times. :)

The main advantage to the 1410 is the operating angle in my book.

This is the last time I swap drivetrain shit around, so I want to build it correctly to take abuse in the rocks and at speed. I don't want to do 1350 shit if I'm going to regret it.

After doing some research, I'm probably going to step up to 1410 shit.

Wouldn't you be worried about vibrations at speed on single jointed 1410 driveshafts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you adjust your pinion angle to work with it, no, I wouldn't be worried.

I'd wait on this decision until you actually have the drivetrain in place and can mock everything up. Your front driveshaft is probably gonna be way longer than it used to be.

Yeah I haven't decided anything yet, but I was just thinking about it.

The front driveshaft should be a solid 12-15" longer

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

1410 or 1350 driveshaft u-joints?

I'm thinking 1350 as it will be a hell of a lot cheaper.

I think the Ford NP205 comes with 1350 yokes from the factory. I already have a 1350 yoke on my front D60, and getting the rear D60 to 1350 just requires a new $40 flange adapter.

I'm also going to reuse the stub/slip portion of my front driveshaft (1350 as well) so realistically I just need 1350 double cardans and another slip/stub for the rear.
Spicer 5-7000X or go home

I think my u-joints are bigger than a dana 30 steering knuckle. Not sure.

No jacket today either.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have 7100's up front now. I hope to have the bumps in, the mounts/gussets layed out, and everything burned home by Sunday too. Then its time to yank the 60 out for the final time to gear/assemble it.

Adam, ever use soundcloud?

I signed up on it to hear a thrice remix, and ended up streaming the vagrant records feed from it. Pretty good stuff except for active child and reptar.

Kind of a neat social network thing that i don't really feel like exploring, unless someone tells me it's worth it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Chris what was your thoughts on your Irok's? i know there no creepy but they seem to be my best choice with the wheels i got

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I wouldn't wish those tires on anybody.

The tread vaporized off them, and by the time i was done with them, i could easily dismount the inner bead by stepping on it with one foot. And they didn't even work well, when they worked well.

I could easily get another season out of my creepies, and i got them in december '08. The Iroks were baloney skins after a year and a half. And i never even raced on them.

If all my rig needed was tires, i'd rather not wheel for another month or two, and buy something better. Towards the end it wasn't even fun going wheeling on those tires because they worked that poorly.

Seems to be unique to the 39.5 size though, other ones work better. What size wheel, and what size tire were you lookin at?
