THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think I'm going to get a super yanker with my Masterpull gift certificate. I saw they had a 40% of yellow winch line deal the other day, talked with Alex but unfortunately I couldn't use it with that, and I can't use it on Amsteel blue. I don't need synthetic line, and I'm not going to spend $160-$200+ after the certificate on winchline when it won't even be put on a winch for a year or two.

Plus, this way I can replaced the Warn snatch strap that got punctured one cold afternoon in a snowy gutter. :eyes:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

3 different bellhousing patterns smashed together, and I have one pair of holes that's gonna give me problems.

Picture coming soon for evaluation.

Red is the Ford pattern, green & dowel pins are the AMC pattern.

Crank is the 4.0 pattern, bolt circle is ~3.75" as per discussion before.

I might be able to rotate the AMC pattern slightly counterclockwise in that view to minimize hole interference...so the trans might be slightly sideways, no big deal.

The attached photo is the Canfield Industries SHO-to-smallblock adapter. The countersunk holes are where it bolts to the V6 block, the odd-shaped cutout is for an oil galley or something on the back of the block that prevents a billet adapter from sitting flush. If you superimpose the holes for the AMC pattern onto the V6 pattern, I think that'd work without inference, but it'd have to be a thick adapter with the back milled out to go over that oil passage.

Seems like this might work out though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

so wait. Why are there 2 bellhousing patterns (Vulcan and AMC) involved here? Maybe I am retarded but shouldn't it just have the AMC pattern for the NSG370 and the Ford pattern for the SHO? I don't understand why you have to use two adapters, or care about two bellhousing patterns.

EDIT: nevermind, saw your answer on fb. I found a pic you've probably already seen, of the back of the SHO V6 block -

It looks like an oil galley or timing chain (but the belt is on the front...) cover to me.

Couldn't you make this one piece and thin by putting the same large notch in your adapter plate as the Canfield guys did?

Another piece of info you probably already have - apparently an 01 Ranger standard trans will bolt up to a SHO. Not sure if they're talking about the V6 or V8 one though.

See attached, I roughly placed the AMC holes on the Canfield adapter using the V8 Ford pattern as a guide. The top right hole looks like it might either interfere with the Vulcan bolt pattern or be really close to the edge of that galley cover...I dunno.

I really need to find the Vulcan pattern dimensioned out.

edit: Good news is it looks like there's plenty of room for the starter at least.

Just got off the phone with Lakewood.

They said a 12" clutch COULD fit, but they're not sure. Most people run the 11" clutch.

He said I shouldn't have a problem with an organic/composite clutch and diaphragm style pressure plate for 450-500 hp. I'll probably just go that route then.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I also need to buy the throwout bearing and clutch fork setup.

Balls.

Like $1400 for the bellhousing, clutch fork, clutch/pressure plate/flywheel, throwout bearing.

That got expensive fast .

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have today and tomorrow off, its like a mini vacation. First time I've had two days off in a row since I started this new job back in August.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wow I really can't make up my mind, I'm all over the place with this whole car/Jeep situation.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Hahaha, I love the site name that image is from that I can see when I quoted this. Great.

But ya, I saw a green one with green rims yesterday. It was Hawt!

That sucks.

I can't wait for the weekend. I want to pound out some more cage stuff.

Both this and next week I have Friday off. AWESOME.

Ya, last Thursday as I was driving down to the Cape I was like "ya, I'll put this brake back together then the Briarwood will be good to drive for a while, and I'll just drive this." Then I drove it and was like "F*ck this, I want a new car..."

Today I was thinking about keeping the Green Jeep running...

You suck you lucky SOB.
