THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I want to say Colin is right. The bore for the torque converter or pilot bearing is 1.8161", there is at least 3/16 or so of metal around that on each side, 1/8 or more for bolt head clearance, the bolts are 1/2" so the heads are 7/8 point to point. That's a radius of AT LEAST 1.65 inches at the bolt pattern, so I'd guess on a diameter of 3.3" to 3.7".

edit: maybe I missed it but have you figured out what's gonna happen with pilot bearing diameter / input shaft diameter etc?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just because I'm a homo, I did the math out.

If the 4.0 has a 4" diameter bolt pattern, the 3.0 has a 2.75" bolt pattern, and both use 1/2" bolts, you'd have .125" between the bolt holes at the closest points.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I imagine I'll just machine a bore into the crank adapter piece that accepts a standard 4.0 bushing/bearing.

Clutch/starter/etc will all be stock Jeep parts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If you're doing fuel injection (are you? I ignored a lot of this shit before I got interested in the discussion) how are you gonna get the SHO CPS to be happy with another flywheel?

What did you end up deciding to do about the trans bearings that are going to try and escape through the sides of the transmission in 5th?

Does the CPS read off the flywheel or the harmonic balancer/front of the engine?

Yep. Front of the motor. :D

Depending on the results of tonight's CAD work, I'll likely end up running a NSG370 6-speed. Much more suited for what I'm trying to do, I found a good deal on one locally, and the overdrive isn't as extreme so it won't piss off the t-case input as much. Plus I think I'll like having the closer ratios a lot better.

Flywheel looks like this:

And someone had asked about the torque curve...found this dyno sheet. Nice n flat. :)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think you'd have a nice drivetrain setup with the SHO, NSG, and doubler.

The close ratio is definitely what you're going for with your rig, like we were talking about Friday. The NV4500, while durable as hell, is more suited for someone like me with a big block/heavier rig.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh, it reads off the front on the SHO? That's nice and convenient  between the NSG not having the same CPS mount as the XJ/MJ and the flywheel being different it would be a real headache otherwise. I should have figured it was off the front of the motor when you said the bolt pattern was symmetrical.

Damn, now I can't wait to see you put this thing together.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah, I kinda like how this is shaping up. I completely forgot that the 6-speed existed...hopefully I can make this work.

Just reinstalled Solidworks '05, let's see what we got...

Side note, anyone hear of/like Band of Skulls? Just found them by accident but this shit is rockin...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wondering if I should build my own wire harness when the time comes. Been staring at the del city catalog.

Not sure I like the idea of a HO and TBI harness thrown under the hood. I could lose the HO harness pretty easy since it only deals with lights and fuel/ignition at this point.

buy the kit

edit: I wonder if there are any manual CVTs out there that can handle a 4.0's power.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Reminds me, I need to order some stuff from Del City.

FYI, Dickies is doing a sale again this year. I got a sh*t ton of stuff from them last year for over half of what everything would have cost. Just got some stuff on sale right now (one was a jacket that was $70 marked down to $21), plus I googled promo codes for Dickies, and it popped up with one for 30% off that expires today. There was another 15% off that expires Wednesday if anyone is interested.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I could prob get a kit from 12V guy. Prob expensive though.

Just do it yourself, I don't imagine it will be all that complicated. Are you any good with wiring?

Is this on the intarnets only?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

save early, save often.

Reminds me, I gotta install solidworks '12 tonight.
