25-28mpg isn't good mileage? You can get good mpg, much lower cost than new, and "performance".
Until the woman vetos driving her 3rd.
Im possibly trading my XJ for an 85 GT and im gunna rip the fool injection off slap a 650 holley on it and 100 shot and make shit happen
If I'm going to buy a car it's mostly because I want mileage. To me, anything in the 20s is average, 30s is good, and closing in on 40 is great.
Kate's Sentra seems to get right around 30 mpg on the highway when I've driven it with her.
It's not a rocketship by any means, but it definitely gets out of it's own way. I've had it up to 95 before without a hitch.
too bad sentras are among the 10 gayest cars you can possibly own.
I'd rather take a 2-3mpg hit and be able to get out of it's own way when I need it too, but its fine if you can't.
It's fine if Mark wants new, I understand that. We're were just not at all in the point to buy anything new and I'm sure as heck not leasing.
I disagree. Most logical vehicle to DD without needing to fix stuff constantly is NOT an XJ. I drive a stock XJ right now and want something new. Maybe a newer XJ will be better, and have less maintenance, but the thing for me is I don't want any maintenance...at all. I don't want to have to worry about doing brakes because something isn't right with them, worry about diagnosing a vibration, etc. Which is why I'm looking at a new car. It has a warranty, won't have the wear and tear of the older cars (newest XJ is still almost 11 years old), and won't require me to do any work on it.most logical vehicle for any of US is a stock xj. we all know how to fix them quickly and we all can get any part we want for less than $200.

If you want mileage and cool factor you want TDI

Exactly my point, there are almost no cars with manual transmissions, and even less with any type of performance until you get up to the engines that take premium gas. That is one of my requirements, manual tranny. The fusion is only V6 AWD with an auto. The manual option is 4cylinder base. I test drove a 4 cy base auto, didn't like it too much. From everything I looked at unless you are in a high dollar car, your getting an auto unless it is a base model 3 or 4cyl. That engine option was out of my scope of looking. So no, I can't help you Mark.![]()
I don't think that's possible with a vehicle.

Base model '11 or '12 Camaro.
~320HP V6, 6-speed manual as base option, 30 mpg highway on regular, sub-6 second 0-60.
Don't pretend like you don't definitely agree and see my point when ever we are on the phone where I'm tired of working on vehicles period.
I'm fine with oil changes, typical small stuff like that. But when I step on the brakes and feel weird pulsing all of a sudden, when I hear weird noises I need to diagnose, when I turn the heat on and it comes on alright one day, but less than luke warm the other (like this morning when it was freezing, and the car wouldn't get up to temp until I was almost at work), or when i feel a vibration and groaning at 65mph, that is the stuff I don't want to deal with right now.
I want the warranty to fix it.![]()

I'd take the new mustang over the new camaro but that's just me.
You already own a Mustang, and my screen name is vetteboy. Never the twain shall meet.
It's a bitter enough pill to swallow knowing that the motor for my next rig says Ford on it, but at least it's Yamaha-sourced.
