THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Anyone think of a reason I would care about balljoint vs kingpin on a 60 if I'm not doing high steer? I can't.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Jeep is now on its way to get inspected. Should have it back this time tomorrow night with a sticker, at which point I'm fully legal again.

Megasquirt's pretty cool, if you feel like it you can do it with all your own boards and solder it up yourself. I have a logic analyzer, o-scope, DMM, etc etc if you decide you want to do this and run into problems.
Where did you get your o-scope and how much if you don't mind me asking? And is it analog/digital or no? I've looked for them a few times but always end up bugging my professors at school that they should sell me the old 16 channel digital scopes that are currently sitting unused in the labs.

I'm probably going to be building a Megasquirt for my buddy's miata eventually and I considered trying to modify/replace my carbs and do a custom FI swap on the motorcycle. In the end I decided against the motorcycle thing, at least until the carbs need cleaning/rebuild again.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's true of some KP axles too, IIRC Rob's, Colin's, and a few others are like that. I paid $150 for it. I'm not willing to add $400+ to the price I will pay for an axle just to make it so I don't have to be as careful welding a single mount tab on.

EDIT: Scott, I get them at swapmeets, in dumpsters, etc. I had 9 60MHz dual channel analog scopes at one point, all slightly broken. Fixed and sold about half of them over the years, I still have a few left. I also have a 4 channel plug-in module style tektronix that's good to 500MHz, a big old vacuum tube tektronix (RM565 I think) that's only kept around because it looks awesome and makes a decent coffee table, and a handful of Tektronix 465A and 465Bs that need a little cleaning and fixing. I think I have less than 200 bucks into the whole lot. I buy/procure scopes the same way I buy jeeps - in large quantities, as total worthless basket cases. Whichever one is suited to the job at hand (and/or is least broken at the moment) is the one I use.

The mid-90's BJ60's have roughly the same amount of tube exposed as the late 80's/early 90's KP60's. Plently of room for a coil bucket and stuff.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

oh yeah. Ross, any chance you would want to help me narrow a 60 in exchange for large quantities of beer? :eyes:

I might want to narrow a rear 60 too. I haven't made up my mind on that yet.

Said front BJ60? How narrow? Its pretty easy, I could narrow a long side down in a day I bet.

A rear would take a little more, preferebly an alignment bar too if you wanna cut the spindles down. Or you could jsut sleeve it and get it straight enough.

DRW 14b with SRW hubs.
I was just thinking about that. I guess I should hit the junkyards and see what I can find. Aiming for roughly stockish width.

My only argument for narrowing a rear axle is that I have two rear 60s in my yard, but I can always solve that problem.

EDIT: Ross, yep - same balljoint 60. Aiming for roughly stock width, it came out of a 97 F350. Tubes are fairly rust free.

i got me textronix one off ebay a few years ago its a 4 channel analog but with digital measurment cursers, i got that plus a a function gen and a 3 output dc that has two variable outputs from 0-30v that can be tied serial internaly to 60v and a fixed 5 volt for like $600

i am going to go watch bored to death now but i will just put this here

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

going through all my old tools and jeep parts from the basement, really want to chuck alot of the shit but theres also alot of good shit(lots of craftsman and husky sockets and wrenches) i supose ill keep it all even though il never use any of it i do plan on posting up a good amount of free shit tonight

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ken dont bother narrowing.
it's going on the MJ and I am not running fullwidths on the MJ.

The 98 whenever I build it (I'm refusing to start until Ross finishes his build)? Fullwidths all the way.

Hey dipshit. Full width tons and H1s is like .5" wider on both sides than I am now. Rear is about where you are.
