THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my rocktoberfest checklist: rear shock hoops, shocks, and bumps. patch a creepy sidewall.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

All you truck nazis, I'll make you a deal. You find me a good diesel truck (ya, manual transmission), and I'll at least take the time to look into it/consider it. Has to be relatively new, quad cab crap, and not have an insane amount of miles on it (i.e. not 100K). Also, not somewhere ridiculous far from 02131. I'm interested to see what you guys find.

But after driving that WRX, I'm not sure I'd like driving something big and slow as much. There is a Subaru dealership down the street from me, I'm going to stop in there on the way home from work and look at what they have there, and keep lieing to myself that I'll ever be able to afford it. They listed a few Legacy models there, so I'll see what they are like.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I gotta build a spare driveshaft, pack my balljoint tools and spares, pack my spare front axle, pack my spare rear shafts, pack my spare transfer case parts, maybe pick up a spare transmission... spare front shafts, control arms and shocks are already packed.

Oh and maybe finally weld up new bumpers or the rocker panel replacements, and do something about the windshield? :dunno: exhaust could use patching but I doubt I'll get around to it.

by 'pack' I mean throw it all in the bed of the truck and hop on the highway

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

and my frame cracked most of the way around again. so i gotta add more metal to that shit

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Whatever, they look completely different to me.

Less defined line on the root of the teeth on the drive side, and the pattern is more centered heel-toe on the coast side.
I was thinking the same thing. The 2nd set of pics look good. Run it, X5 or whatever.
I'm kind of upset you're not coming to Rocktoberfest.
What no tears for me?

What is your budget? I understand you don't need a truck if you never plan on trailering your XJ. Heck Colin probably doesn't need one beyond that purpose either. Ken & myself (and my guess is Travis probably will be the same too) can't remember the last time I didn't have something in the back of my truck. I couldn't get by with a car.

It's the stepping up and out of the cars that bother me. The Impreza/WRX I could never live with, something like the Legacy were it sits like 3" higher I could live with and might end up being Angel's next ride. It'd have to have the H6 though, no 4 squirrels junk.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I actually do remember... I cleaned the bed completely right before I did the lift/motor/trans/transfer case/axle/tire swap. When I went to pick the new motor up from Bradley the only thing in the bed was the engine hoist. It looked so strange that I immediately filled it with shit again :roflmao:

reminds me, no need to bring spare d30 yokes, I have several packed already

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i see no issues with peaple getting cars, but why do peaple have to get brand new ones besides trying to win a dick measurung contest

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ok so we are chatting at dinner and Weird Al came up. Someone had not ever heard of him or his songs. Please tell me you folks remember his songs from back in the day. I guess he just released some new ones too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

My vw had 56k when I got it. 96k now. I just take care of it.

Here ya go. Not a quad cab or a stick shift but you can't try to tell me you can't park it in the city :D

He who dies with the most junk in his backyard wins.

Bill - he's come out with some awesome stuff recently, heard 'White and Nerdy' or 'Amish Paradise'?

i almost have enough parts to build a third statue. im just short on outer axle shafts.
kinda hard to build a statue with one ring gear, a broken carrier, bent knuckle, 2 broken detroit lockers, spindle, and a axle flange.

i remember that shit before high school lol

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Crushed my thumb pretty good. Slowly watching the finger/fingernail change colors. :laugh3: On the plus side I got all the old brackets off the axle, got templates cut for the brackets and braces cut, and will be transfering them to the steel and welding them on over the next day or two. Just didn't want to pull out the torch at this hour of night and gave up for the day.

I made the mistake of buying my altima with 9k miles on it. Then I got the mustang with 60k and that's just about as low as I will go from now on. I was shopping for even older cars but then test drove the '05 and decided the extra comfort/power was worth spending a bit more for.

yup. heard some of his stuff a couple weeks ago after forgetting about it for ages.

I wouldn't exactly call those new....

Why not get a brand new car? I don't see anything wrong with it, and don't see it as a dick measuring contest.

You are going and getting the latest technology the car companies have to offer. Most people aren't going to go into an Apple store with all the iPod touches on display, and ask for the original iPod without the click wheel with the 4 buttons on it. I also for one would be happy knowing no one else owned the car, no one had the choice to not treat it nicely, to beat the hell out of it, to do stupid stuff that would decrease the life of the engine/car/components.

But, this is all everyone else's opinions.

Must be sub 25K at the highest. Even then, that is steep.

I didn't mind getting out of the WRX, but I'm not a fan of getting out of my dad's '09 civic. I like the '09 and older body style Legacy. I'm not a fan of the new ones. I was at the Subaru dealership right down the street from my work today, I was looking at the WRX again and was learning about the 2012 Imprezza, which is supposed to get 27/38ish with CVT tranny while still having all wheel drive (25/36 with 5 speed like I was looking at)

The 4 cylinder turbo engine in the WRX has pleanty of power :D
