THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So uh...any ill effects from me not opening my ram to put internal stops in?

I have yet to notice anything. I don't think it would be able to rip my knuckles apart.

I'm gonna need a trash bag full of armor all wipes to clean the interior of my jeep...

a little bit of murphys oil in some hot water and a rag, works awsome and none of the nasty armor all residue

Well found out why my t-case broke in half

3 month old centering yoke kit from NAPA, I put it in right before NAC-fest and greased it. Wonder if they'll warranty it or at least give me my money back

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

It looks like it melted, hot damn. (get it Colin, that's a pun)

I wish my old 242 in green jeep broke in half in a spectacular fashion before I replaced it. I'm sure that time I shifted it into 4wd when going 30-40 mph, when I didn't have the front hubs locked in (therefore zero spin on the front shaft) would have been an ideal time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just puked in my mouth a little.

I think Ross said he thought it was a driveshaft the blew up the t-case last night when I called him on the way home...or it was Colin...I don't remember.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Wasn't me, must have been Ross.

And Mark, pretty sure any CAD front axle setup has zero spin on the driveshaft when you slap it in 4WD? Not sure why what you did would be any different (therefore not really a big deal).

Main shaft turning at XXXX RPM, and front not turning, then engaging the front shaft through the chain, putting a shock load on that. I'm not sure how the CAD works (are those supposed to be shift on the fly too, I've never owned one?) but either way, I heard an extremely loud bang, little bit of a jolt, and I actually have pictures of the tips of the dogs on the shift collar that had been chipped away (I was assuming it was because of that, but it could have been anything). My first thought was something went boom.

Holy crap.

But that first comment made me start laughing pretty good Hahaha

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Pinion looks a little deep. Adding a .003" shim might help, and loosen the BL a touch.

Can't tell though, kind of far away.

I'm also not an expert.

if they won't warranty or give you your money back start screaming about taking them to small claims court for the cost to have a garage install a new transfer case and driveshaft... there is no reason a 3 month old centering yoke should blow up like that. Hell, I'm still using factory 15-20 year old ones without any issue.

Mark, did you put it in 4 fulltime or 4 parttime? Either way that much speed mismatch front/rear is gonna beat the hell out of the shift collar and shaft teeth but 4 parttime would add insult to injury by revving the front shaft to the moon right afterwards, since it's an open diff in the center with the front hubs unlocked...
