Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The Droid Charge is a total sleeper. We'll be perfectly honest that we weren't expecting to be wowed but, well, we're certainly impressed. In terms of performance it's more or less on par with the recently-released Thunderbolt, but battery life is far superior and, while the Super AMOLED Plus display has its quirks, we think they just add character. The imaging sensor 'round the back is top-notch and, overall, this is a very good phone.

I think (at least with Sprint) you can trade the phone in up to a month after you get it... so if you get a phone and it sucks you can bring it back within a month or so.

That said:
The thunderbolt looks like verizon's version of the Sprint HTC Evo. I know quite a few people with the Evo who love it.

The Samsung Fascinate looks like verizon's verzion of the Sprint Samsung Epic (except w/o the slideout keyboard). I have an Epic and love it.

I think either way you will be happy. IIRC the Samsung is slightly more powerful (it has a separate GPU to handle graphics rather than relying on hte CPU for that) and it has the Super AMOLED screen which is pretty fawking sweet though it can drain battery more than a normal screen.

FWIW: I had the exact same decision to make earlier this year. I spent weeks comparing and contrasting between the Epic and the Evo (Fascinate and Thunderbolt respectively) and ended up picking the Epic (Fascinate).

Edit: Going back it looks like the Fascinate is the same as the Epic except it doesn't have 4G... I overlooked the Droid Charge which seems to be the same as the Fascinate except it has 4G and a slightly larger screen. If the extra 0.3" screen and 4G is important then there ya go; my earlier comments about the Samsung phone(s) still stand. I RARELY use my 4G connection.

yup, theyre the same phones. i'd wait on the galaxy phones if you wanted to go that way.. the galaxy 2 II is gonna be released soon and its a powerhouse and a half.

Just looked it up breifly... looks pretty sweet.

And Bob: check CL for phones before you buy one at Verizon. A Samsung Epic was $200 or $250 with my 2 year upgrade allowance with Sprint. I ended up buying a mint condition Epic with cases, screen protectors, etc off CL for $200..

So long story short I got a new phone w/ extras for the same price I would have got just the phone from Sprint.

Plus I didn't have to use my 2 year renewal allowance so I still have that allowance to spend in case some crazy awesome new phone comes out soon and I want to upgrade again.

Always check on CL first... there are tons of people who upgrade every damn time a new phone comes out so used phones are frequently selling on CL cheap.

Re: The NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Examples with literally 5 seconds of searching:
Samsung Fascinate in Worcester for $175

Samsung Fascinate in Worcester for $110

Thunderbolt w/ extras in Worcester for $300

Whatever you do make sure that if you do buy a phone off CL you meet the seller at a Verizon store so the verizon rep can check the phone to make sure it has a clean ESN. If the phone was reported lost or stolen the phone will have a dirty ESN and you won't be able to activate it on your account. You can also call into verizon and give them the phone serial number and they can check ESN over the phone but I find it's easier to just do the sale at a store and have it checked there.

Those seals are only $1 if you ever need one. In stock, and at Adam's warehouse, 50,000 AVAILABLE. haha

I very well may need one, I had to run to Napa to get a few other things and they don't carry them. I might be driving past there tomorrow, if not I might see if Ross wants to stop by and pick one up before he delivers my jeep.
