Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anybody have any experience with aftermarket header for the 4.0? my exhaust manifold is cracked completely around where it meets at the collector and im debating whether to go aftermarket or to just go to advance and throw a stock unit in there
I had an edelbrock, after 2 years it was full of cracks

When it looks like this, its time to swap it out

only takes about 45 minutes, I changed that one at work on lunch

wow that was a good one. yeah im not worried about changing it out, just wondering if i should buy a new one or salvage this one.

salvage=free
new one = $100+

free>$100

think i found my answer

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yea. i wanted to get an uncracked one and be done with it. but i was presented with a beautiful day and didnt have a good one so i pulled it off and welded it up.

and i welded it up and its still mint.

all i was worried about is the metal around the weld cracking, but its proven to be fine. and even if ya only get 6 months out of it. you are out the price of an intake gasket and an hour of your time.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

where the two pipes meet at the fleximable thing, one of the pipes is cracked almost completely around. might even be cracked completely around i haven't really looked at it that much

Weld it up. My '99 had this when I 1st got it:

Welded it up and now 30k+ miles without any issues from it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

agree. im gonna do what some dude did on jeepforum, cut the bottom of the hinge and weld a bolt so they slide on and off

Thats what i did, no problems yet and it was easy

I might have a mildly cracked one in the scrap pile you can have if you want to weld it up ahead of time, I will look tomorrow

that re-assuring. how long ago did you do it? the doors are fairly heavy i dont want them to wear the hinges out overtime and just fall off on me lol

that would be awesome. as long as it fits a 99

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Thrice is awesome. Beggars is unbelievable. Vheissu isn't bad either but the 4 alchemy index cds are outstanding. Take 3.5 hours out of a night and listen to them straight through.

I'll do that soon.

Really liking 'The Weight'. But I like the rest of the album more as I let grooveshark play it through.

My big thing is recreational wheeling in the rain or snow.

Or being able to keep heat in when its cold.

Done all of that sans windshield, and I still don't miss it.

Are you going rec wheeling in the rain/snow in a t-shirt? No, you plan on getting out frequently to deal with people getting stuck. And not having a windshield to build up mud/snow/ice/rain/sun glare on is great.

I used to swear that anything I'd build would have a windshield for that reason. Now I'm completely against it unless I can find a way to make it a <30 second swap.

now do i fix it? or beat on it til she dies?

Yes.

rain x the shit out of it dude

Worked a little bit at the Uwharrie 4x4cross race, had to wipe it down completely between every pre-run lap. But it got me through the course easier.

Exactly what I was going to say. I know you're all pumped for racing Colin, but honestly, think about how much actual racing you are going to be doing, vs all the other wheeling and going out with friend you'll be doing. Think about how much you've done of either of those in the past, the rec wheeling far outweighs the racing. I know it would be good to have no windshield for racing, but you said it, think of how good it would be in the rain, snow, wind, going through the occasional mud or water crossing. It will suck. Plus, you don't even know if you like racing yet, you could enjoy just a fast romp down the coarse more than an actual race.

Right now, regardless of weather, I would hate rec wheeling with a windshield.

Colin, are you really gonna take the glass out of your doors for Line Mtn and then put it back in later?

Find me someone who doesn't enjoy racing after they've tried it

Truth.

not their best song. but better than ezra is classic 90s alt rock.

Hell yeah. Cry in the Sun.

its dark in new amsterdam. starin at this yellow haired girl mr jones strikes up a conversation

Mr. Jones is pretty classic. Counting crows do have some good songs.

I've been known to play/sing this next to campfires.

i'll weld your exhaust. i guarantee huge ass flu boogers.

My passenger side rear door agrees with this statement.

I'M THE CULT OF I'M THE CULT OF I'M THE CULT OF I'M THE CULT OF I'M THE CULT OF PERSONALITY

The band I was in won the junior year high school variety show with this song, I was on drums. Epic.

Been listening to 'beggars' again during this whole post, I think I'll be buying this album.

I do that, ya know. Buying albums if I like them. I'm old school like that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I agree with Chris's standpoint about the windshield...not to mention i prefer wheeling doorless regardless of the weather, and 90% of the rigs in DWE i wheel with are caged and windshieldless. You just bundle up and its a good time
