THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin's fenders are now safe. CHECK THAT OFF THE LIST

Like I was saying last night, I think I'm gonna get the bandsaw operational Friday night.

I think it's all set but I haven't checked it out at all. I had my brother buy some grease/lube for it yesterday.

do you also post pictures of your cut-in-half jeep on motorcycle forums?
I think there was a "Jeepers Thread" actually. :moon:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So...did you actually get any shit done? That's the real question.

I had to pick up 6 1310s from Adam, and got some banjo bolts for the front calipers from my parts guy. Checked them out on the rear and they'll work for that as well. I plan on having two front and two rear driveshafts so if I grenade any of them at NACfest I have a complete ready to go spare. By the time I got home it was 7:30.

Smashed the rear flange adapter off the explorer driveshaft Carmelo gave me and chased the holes in the flange for the m12-1.5s. Mocked it up and measured for the driveshaft. I need 36" of tube and I have exactly 72" so I SHOULD be able to make 2. Does a leaf sprung suspension change the length of the driveshaft through it's entire cycle? I was trying to figure that out.

As Travis was saying, ran the rubber door edging around each fenderwell opening too. Looks purdy.

Was going to start cutting/welding the driveshaft but at that point it was approaching 10 p.m. and I can't make loud noises that late :(.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Aren't you like, one year closer to death today?

...yes. i listened to futures about 6 times all the way through last night editing pics and videos, and killed a few nobles pils, watched deadliest catch, showered, went to bed.

tonight = wing night. or something stupid.

Leaf springs are dumb anyway.

But consider the fixed end of the leaf spring (the side connected to the frame, not the shackle) to be a control arm of sorts. Follow the arc of that control arm to get a general idea of what your driveshaft will do. The change in length will depend on the arc of your springs at ride height/full stuff/droop/etc, which is affected by shackle length/angle.

I have minimal $$$ into them :D

Yeah that's pretty much what I was trying to figure out. I'm probably going to just set the driveshaft in the middle of the slip and call it good.

I used to have that album, but somehow its presence on my iPod has been reduced to "polaris" and "the world you love". Which are two great songs, polaris especially, but I guess I should try and get the rest of it back.

I took a 4 hour nap on my futon by accident, and had a few lagers while finishing a book I was reading. Sadly your night sounds more exciting, lol.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You have the axle under the truck already. What's wrong with using a tape measure to find out what the real numbers are?

I enjoy being retarded.

:)

I know what I need at ride height and I can easily find out droop so I'll do that.

Can't really get full bump measurement...? Unless I use a comealong or something but that's sketchy.

Unbolt just the shackle end and set it down on the bumpstops.

If anything, that number will be a little shorter than actual, because the axle will get pushed back a little more when the spring flattens out from compression.

I'm getting my mondo progressive rear bumpstops from Carmelo tonight so maybe I can pound those out Friday night.

I just got Invented about 2 weeks ago, and I can't stop listening to that. But I love futures, 23 is probably my favorite song on there, the guitar part is wicked awesome.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So the 1982 dodge hoses I got accept a 7/16" banjo bolt.

Ford calipers take a 3/8" banjo bolt.

Problem?

I'm probably going to try it first and see if it seals.
