THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So I'm thinkin about using a stock XJ UCA bushing as a part in a gearbox mounting assembly I'm designing at work.

I need a bushing with a 10mm steel sleeved through hole, and can be pressed into a 2" OD piece of DOM.

Trackbar bushing might work too.

Hmm...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes, I know it's just a retaining tab. That's what I'm saying, the OEM ones have a hex shaped hole, the hex shaped end on the (OEM) line fits into it and then clips down so you can be lazy and only use the line wrench. You can obviously just stick a pair of vise grips on it though.

I've never seen a hex shaped hole in the OEM tab...?

I was never able to do it as you described. Always two wrenches, one on the soft line end the other on the hard line fitting. Once it's tight, just throw the tab in.

As usual the weather is amazing and I am sitting in my cube. 1700 can't come soon enough.
Agreed. And I don't know if I am going to wait until 5 to get out of here... I'm guessing my boss will be leaving early and I will probably be right behind him.

You still want to meet today so I can get that manifold off you or meet sometime over the weekend? I will probably be out in the Dudley area tomorrow afternoon/evening so I could meet you sometime tomorrow if you want.

Yeah it sucks i need my title before i can get a check from the insurance company for my bike, the bank said they send it over to the registry electronically and then the registry prints it out and sends it out.

What happened to the bike?

Don't use a UCA bushing, they have that stupid pressed-in-dimple thing to reduce the inner sleeve to 10mm. Believe the hole is actually 1/2" or so?

Huh, that's odd. On my XJ it was a hex shape with a slot to the outside of the tab and one corner rounded, like this: (line fitting at top, retaining tab at bottom)

Even on my crusty junk I have never had to hold onto the soft line while screwing the hardline into it.

Either way. I intend to be walking out the door at 1700 and at the house by 1800 though. Have a meeting that might run late but I will do my damndest to avoid that...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm with you Ken, that's how my factory ones looked as well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I dunno when everyone else is starting but I'm gonna be awake at the asscrack of dawn if things go as planned.

You planning on tossing axles/springs under it tomorrow and hauling it onto a trailer or should I get a couple cement blocks so we can leave it on the porch till you're ready? I really don't give a shit either way, it can sit on the porch for at least a month or so before it starts to be a problem.

Maybe it's because I've never used a factory soft line? I always used an aftermarket line back there (SS) and was NEVER able to do what you described.

Hell, I didn't even know that thing was slotted for it like that.

Doesn't surprise me too much, aftermarket lines are usually more of the universal persuasion... I'm still rocking a stock rear line because my leafs flex like boards so it's plenty long enough. Still running stock front lines too actually, the shocks limit my travel before the brake line does :laugh2: and none of it has stopped me from making an obstacle so whatever. My lack of lockers and bumpstops has caused me far more issues.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

someone hit me lol. Wasnt that bad, but they totaled my bike and i bought it back for 1500.
Well that sucks, at least your alright.

Alright, if you aren't going to be leaving the office until at least 5 I will probably just plan on meeting you tomorrow. Still haven't decided if I am going to meet with my aunt and this girl she is trying to hook me up with but I will either swing by tomorrow afternoon before meeting with them or I will stop by and hang out for a while if I decide not to meet them.

Yeah I just relocated the front bracket when I did my RE 3.5".

I then got longer stainless lines at some point...can't remember anymore.

When I got my front locker I thought I was the shit.

One of these months I am going to weld the shit out of my 8.25, I have only been planning to since last July. Not locking the turdy, I am pretty sure it will explode if I do.

This is why I like running stock/worthless axles and gears. If I blow shit up it costs me under a hundred bucks to fix by just getting a new one off NAXJA or at the junkyard.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

WJ UCA bushings don't have that dimpled sleeve.

I still don't know how/why you and I went through so many of those...

I don't know why you did, but I was running TNT arms.

Of course I was going to go through them (radius arms = binding).

As soon as I went to a hard joint there (read HP44 swap - JJs) there was obviously no more UCA bushing ownage.

I think all the bind went to the RE bushings at the LCA axle end after that. Those were toast when I pulled the kit to sell it.
