THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

If I'm furloughed next week... Maybe.

Speaking of that and my most recent post... you oughta apply at my work, they've like doubled in size at our site in the past 2 years and still growing like crazy. Hell after all, they hired me :gee: and you could move closer to here (read: NH) and be close to wheeling and friends etc etc. And to top it off have a probably more stable job :dunno:

Link to company website? I'll look into it. NH would be awesome.

I think it's just this year that's screwed up because being a government worker is one of the most stable jobs there is. If the DoD shuts down, there's a good chance a lot of the contracting companies (read: Raytheon, General Dynamics, etc) will too. Maybe not right away, but it's going to hurt.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Doubtful, but who knows. Ill ask a couple people and let you know. Idk if itd be worth it for you to make the drive tho for part time, especially since we're moving to westford in a couple months

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Nice Ross!

On a totally different note, reason I love XJs # 87; UPS can drop off a cat-back and you can have it installed and be cleaned up 45min later.
I love that, got plenty of practice because I keep shredding my exhaust and having to weld it back together.

im proposing a m&g end of month, chinesse food and Fast 5 not sure where prob somthin closer to the RI/CT peeps

I have an empire buffet literally 2 blocks from me and a yard we can have a bonfire in, my neighbors might show up drunk but never care otherwise.

I want to take a crowbar to the balls of the previous owner of my house:
Linoleum
3/4 ply (with randomly placed 3" screws holding it down)
1/4 ply (more random screws and ringshank nails)
1" thick oak floor (rotted horribly)
3/4 boards randomly placed as spacers
3/4 maple floor (rotted horribly)
1-2" subflooring

Yeah, gaining another couple inches of ceiling height... wtf was wrong with these people?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You're right about the one year term, but they send out reg renewals in October and I wanted to not let it lapse again. I renewed for 2011 in Oct of 2010 and never received my 2011 paperwork...
I don't recall getting anything about renewing in October but I may have missed that memo. I would just call the RMV and ask about it I guess; I always renew online in March/April/May and have never missed my paperwork.

Where do you work again? If it's somewhere that wants electrical/computer engineers I may be job hunting soon (aka in November) and would love to move to NH and/or North of Boston...

Well, the longest furlough ever for the DoD was 14 work days and at the end they hire everybody back just like they never left. It's not like I'm actually getting let go... Thankfully. No one down in DC can agree on a budget plan. It's we todd did.

Haha well goodrich is in the same boat as them to be honest. I think this division (isr) is somehow less dependant on that stuff though; they laid a bunch of people off in illinois recently, but offered most of those people jobs here instead. This part of their business is just going like crazy. I believe its just goodrich.com

Good point. I've been looking into heating companies in the Portsmouth area too. Not a horrible drive for me but they have stupid money out there so it would be worth it.

I wouldn't want to work there. They've threatened to shut that place down 3-4x in the last 20 years. Came pretty close a couple times. I'd be willing to explain why off of the forums.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Soooooo hard to get into! I would absolutely 1000000000% go there if you didn't have to jump through a series of hoops and know people there to get a job in there. I like the residential aspect of the field more-so than commercial anyhow.

You've peaked my interest. We shall talk about this some time soon...

Which shipyard you talking about?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've also considered the New Boston Air station but they're the same deal getting into and a lil further north than I'd like to go.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I would love to go at some point, gotta get my fat ass in shape before I can though. My brother went a year or two ago and said it was amazing. He also broke my camera and didn't replace it (after my folks promised it wouldn't break when I told him to just bring disposables).
Honestly, that's one of my regrets, not bringing a decent camera.
I don't even know if I've hit 60 on my pack...granted the most I've done was a 3-night trip, with water available along the way.

I remember having to carry shit for people just because I always had the lightest pack in the group.

NAC backpacking trip this season? I'd be up for that.
Count me in
Coming back from the Hammers last year we did a hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back in one day, against the dire warnings of the National Park Service. 13 miles round trip and over a mile of elevation change...the hike back up was significantly harder than the way down. Lots of fun switchbacks like this:
I would have to say the biggest thing I prefer about new england trails is the lack of switchbacks. Here, the trail tends to go as straight up the mountain as possible, making for a tougher hike, but at the same time, your almost constantly moving on to new scenery. With switchbacks, its just the same scenery 200 feet lower or higher.
The last day of Philmont, my crew hiked into base camp over the tooth of time ridge. I blew out my knee rock climbing the night before, and had to ride back into base camp, but I remember watching people coming in down the switchbacks and thinking that it must be shitty to be able to see the end of your trek coming for so long.

We were told 3 separate times by park rangers that what we were doing was retarded, and that there are multiple signs threatening death or serious injury from it. XXXX it, I had one day to spend there, I wanted to see the damn river. We did the round trip in less than 7 hours including having lunch at the bottom.
The park rangers probably warn everyone, because for every experienced hiker that does the trail, 5 tourists that have no business walking out of sight of their car attempt it. 13 miles round trip with a mile elevation change is not a bad days hike, provided you are used to the altitude.

The TTB race rig will be full hydro, but only because of the geometry, and I'm not overly thrilled about that.
Why will it have to be full hydro? There are plenty of steering setups out there for ttb that work.
