I still have a whisperlite international as my pack stove, but I plan on picking up a jetboil soon. Its crazy, when the whisperlite came out, it was miles ahead of everything else out there, and now its looked at as a heavy stove.

I need to get a new backpacking tent, possibly something with carbon fiber this time around, and I have yet to find a lightweight sleeping bag that I am comfortable in.

For the last few years, I have been buying cold weather gear. I picked up a discontinued sierra designs 4 season tent a few years ago for a great price, and with my gear, I have always been comfortable in even the coldest of weather.
I haven't really done any real backpacking since I went to philmont in 2002, and looking back on it now, I dont know how I did it then. Without food or water, my pack was 87lbs when I weighed in at base camp, the most that they would let me leave with. Add 2.5 gallons of water, and with having a large pack, a good portion of the crews food, I was probably around 115-120 lbs. I think that with my current winter gear I could easily beat that now.

I think I've seen others use that stove... Technology has come a long way in the last 10 years.

That's heavy. Really heavy. 120lbs is more than twice as heavy as I've ever hiked with, but granted, I was 12 at the time. 50-60lbs is a lot for a 12 yo...

Someday I'll get to Philmont. I keep forgetting you are associated with the BSA.

how do i get my dog to not want to sleep with me?

if he isnt in my bed, laying on my legs, making me uncomfortable. he is at my door scratching and whining.

i kick him off the bed sometimes and he just hops back on. sometimes he crawls up to my face and breathes on me.

so annoying

I had horrible gear back then.
8lb sleeping bag, 9 lb tent, 4lb thermarest, it ads up quick. Plus I had regular clothes, nothing lightweight at all. Hell, my old external frame pack weighs in at around 6lbs empty on its own. It honestly never bothered me. I could keep going all day with that weight, where other kids couldn't even lift my pack
As much as I would love to get back to philmont, I don't know if I will. The bsa has horrible height/weight requirements, bad enough that to be within the reccomended range, you need to have almost no muscle mass. I slipped in just below the max allowable for my height back then, and that's before I got fat. I have more muscle mass now than I did then, and I am not any taller, so even if I loose the excess weight, I still don't meet the requirements.

I feel your pain. Mine waits til the middle of the night to sleep back on and I wake up contorted and uncomfortable all the time.

Does he have his own bed on the floor? If not, buy one. I had to speak in a stern voice and point in shame until mine realized that's where she is to go. Now, when I walk into the room if she's ever up on my bed, she automatically knows where to go. She still occasionally jumps up in the middle of the night, but not as often as before.

I've also found strategically placed laundry baskets get the point across blocking her access.

Lol steve whats-his-name with the red super duty and frosty were both right behind us too which i didnt realize at first. That yaris is damn slow, i didnt even launch the protege hard

Oh I got my tube adapters and a second ARB cover yesterday.

Hopefully the MJ will be on its own weight by the end of the weekend.

Im hoping the 60 will be togther and ill start working on some other things while I wait for high steer arms on tuesday. Maybe ill pull the 231 and think about swapping the Stak.

I would love to go at some point, gotta get my fat ass in shape before I can though. My brother went a year or two ago and said it was amazing. He also broke my camera and didn't replace it (after my folks promised it wouldn't break when I told him to just bring disposables).

I'm excited for the nice weather.

I rode my motorcycle to work today. Couldn't feel my right thumb by the time I got here.

Still a lot of sand on the roads 'round these parts. Heck they were salting them earlier this week.
