THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That's heavy. Really heavy. 120lbs is more than twice as heavy as I've ever hiked with, but granted, I was 12 at the time. 50-60lbs is a lot for a 12 yo...

I don't even know if I've hit 60 on my pack...granted the most I've done was a 3-night trip, with water available along the way.

I remember having to carry shit for people just because I always had the lightest pack in the group.

NAC backpacking trip this season? I'd be up for that.

how do i get my dog to not want to sleep with me?

I totally failed at this.

Had some brews, listened to some FSF, went wheelin down to the sound.. gotta be up for work in 5 hrs

Had the first jam session with the new band project last night...went pretty well. I'm not overly thrilled with the bass player but we'll see where it goes...doin' it again in two weeks.

Oh, and maybe you should throw your iron cobra in the car again, you might finally get to use it this time. Also, we've got sleeping space in my buddy's gigantic enclosed trailer if you want it. Just bring an air mat/cot.

time to cook up some french toast and BACON mmmmmm

Turns out QuickChek makes a half-decent breakfast burrito, once you add hot sauce, onions, tomatoes, and peppers to it.

I had problems with my tie rod hitting my ruffstuff cover on my HP44. Wasn't a big deal because my pitman arm was short, but if I wanted full turning radius I would have had to do something about it.

I love how everyone jumps on the plate steel cover bandwagon without a second thought. I got a deal on mine and paid $140. Go price out a Ruffstuff D60 diff cover. $120 before adding countersunk hardware AND shipping.

My tierod hits the diff cover at full lock, I just deal with it. It deflects like 3/16".

Also I'm pretty sure the RuffStuff covers have gone up in price since I bought mine...and plus I got mine as the weld-it-yourself kits. Also I have my hydro-assist ram mounted to it...that ain't happening with one of your crapass cast covers. :p

Also, the cast cover doesn't give you the option of adding bearing cap girdles later on. This probably doesn't apply to the average consumer though.

My tie rod hits my diff cover at full lock to the right.. Guess i should look into these..

NBD

More talk of a potential govt furlough. Glad all my bills are up to date.

While it sucks in your situation...honestly I don't really care if the government shuts down for a little while. Maybe it'll help some of those asshats get their priorites straight...although I think that's a very slim chance.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Even though I'm on the 'inside' I still agree.

What pisses me off is that right now is that I'm part of the problem. They hired me and won't give me anything to do. There's too much cronyism.

Mine did that without having full turning radius. Like I said, if I had full turning radius with it, I probably would have just done something like ashman did by notching out the cover and welding in a piece of tubing.

They must have. $130 + shipping for a D60 cover with countersunk bolts.

Oh wait...full hydro > hydro assist :D

Nope, sure doesn't. I highly doubt I will need that. MAYBE when the 440 goes in :D.

Good idea.

It does suck for me financially, but if the asshats in DC need a week to figure their shit out... Then take it.
edit: dang, I didn't realize you used the word asshat too. :laugh3:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I use the word asshat sparingly. I probably would have used it in that sentence too. :roflmao:

I can unequivocally state I will not be taking part in this.

I HATE hiking when it involves a backpack with more than like 10-20lbs of stuff in it. I can't stand sweating as I move slowly up a mountain...

I prefer go-fast sports like ice skating, roller skating, biking, wheeling, etc. Wheeling isn't really go-fast for me (yet) but it sure is relative to the amount of energy expended.

They must have. $130 + shipping for a D60 cover with countersunk bolts.
My d30+8.8 covers cost me almost exactly 200 on sale, after NAXJA discount, with countersunk bolts and drain plugs. Of course, those are small covers not big covers.

I was gonna drop another 200 bucks on a pair of 8.25 covers (one for the MJ, one for the 96) but decided I'd weld em up myself instead, out of regular hot rolled steel. It won't be as awesome, but my DD/plow truck certainly doesn't need to be that badass, and I have been doing fine so far with the stock cover on the XJ. Been lucky I haven't hit it seriously, but that's why I carry a spare cover.

Wheeling is a motorsport, not an active sport. I don't even put wheeling or motorcycle riding on the same list as the other stuff, despite the fact that it can be tiring.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Speaking of covers, trying to find anything decent for an AAM 11.5 isn't easy. I'm not dropping ~$300 on a mag-hytec or similar cover either. If I could grab a non-stock cover for ~$100 I might when I swap the fluid at my next service change coming up.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Is that on your 3/4 ton? What's wrong with the stock cover?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There is 0 point in wasting $100 on a cover for that thing Bill.

It's not going to see any rocks, it doesn't need anymore fluid capacity.
You thought a stock D60 cover was thin? Go look at your father's AAM cover.
Fluid capacity is a non-issue as I see it, I'm fine with the stock levels. I wish SOLID/Rockcrusher had them for $65. Then I'd be set, I won't spend more than $100 cause who am I kidding? I don't have that.

All it takes is one time swinging around the trailer. Let's face it some of the places we take trucks/trailers are not the most ideal.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Ok, but why do you need a thick cover on it? It's never going to kiss boulders and if it's not rusty it will hold fluid...

(Bill voice) Mine was only like $100 shipped (/Bill voice)

I forget who makes it, but they just came out with a sweet aam cover. Cooling ribs, extra capacity, bearing supports bolts, diff temp port, etc. Very bling and IIRC ~$200.

I have seen his diff cover and plenty more at dealerships/car shows.

They are NOT that thin dude.

Seriously dude? You are just looking for places to blow money at this point if you want to buy a diff cover for it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm going to be pissed if I am forced to sell Jeep parts to pay bills.

Is that like the stock Nissian Titan ones? I think I've seen that, but $200 is way way to much for any diff cover.

Pretty thin man, my stock D60 covers are visibly thicker.

Haha! Funny! You know what I'm reluctantly dropping on things, I'm sure not looking for anything else to spend money on. This is solely for the fact the my truck will see a lot more off-pavement use in the coming months (clearing land) and one backup without seeing a rock or fresh cut stump and I'm out a lot more than $65-100.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think bill should invest that diff cover money in the NAConomy.

I mean he is the president.

It's like a stimulus plan.

The money will be split amoung the top posters in the NAC and must be used in the NAC for sale section.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That would not be cool. If that happens I could buy Jeep parts with every intent to sell Jeep parts back to you later if need be...

I dunno, they are kinda lame. The one on my dads truck needs replacement soon. I bet I could easily smash it with a hammer, its pretty rusty too.
