THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

SO.

35s or 37s on my jeep? hmmmmmmmm.. kinda want 37s bc two of my friend's gfs drive yellow wranglers on 35s.. if someone is selling good radials taller than a 37 for my friend's XJ this would make for a simple decision.. bc i'd buy his brand new 37" KM2s..

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Well I guess its time to put my new shocks in

Snapped the rear upper shock bolts over a series of rediculous events last night. I think those bolts are made of butter...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Adam, what bolt pattern? 8x6.5?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Or... use one big ass ratchet. It came in really handy for installing and tightening everything up too.

I've only ever used a breaker bar for lug nuts before too. But I think I'll be using this from now on.

5 seconds over and over? You could argue that I'll have this tool for the next 60 years or so. How much time will it save me over the course of it's life? It's all about making our job as the mechanic easier. Granted, I don't run a business and make money with my tools...

A 1/2" drive ratchet can't torque control arms or lug nuts?

How much did you spend on that ratchet again?

Sorry, I'll never understand your justification for that purchase, with the main reason being your last sentence.

And just for the record, they make ratcheting adapters for breaker bars. We have one for our 1/2" drive.

Daily driving it?

I'd probably stay to 35s.

Up to you though.

Snowing again... :(

Two months ago I loved it and wanted nothing but snow. Now I'm sick and tired of the salt on my truck and all it does is snow 2" every other day.

At least Thursday is predicted to be in the lower 50s and sunny.
I want it to go away and never come back.

It is raining cats and dogs here, there is probably a river in my kitchen because I got the back hall roof ripped off yesterday but didn't put anything over it. Oh well, it'll keep the dust down.

I prefer one tool that does both jobs simply because it's easier to carry one thing than two, and there is one less thing I need to worry about forgetting somewhere or losing on the other side of the garage.

Reason #20935809258 that MJs > XJs: studs at both ends of the rear shocks instead of bolts at the top end. I didn't even break em on my crusty piece of shit, they came right off.

Balls.

I don't mind snow. I just want to ride my motorcycle and that's a no-go when there's salt on the road. Sand sucks, but I can deal with it.

Billy said that your area got another 8" or so late last week. That's annoying.

We did, but thankfully that is mostly gone.

So I got an email from my brother telling me to watch this video saying it was some funny remake of that song going around. I have not seen the original, but this wasn't bad and had some funny in it (really dumb lyrics though). 3:06 starts some nice stuff too.

Chris, Colin, Anthony, etc; Is that a remake of what you all were complaining about last week?

His control arm bolts were spec'd to get torqued to 150 ft lbs. Getting that with a 12" long 1/2" ratchet would be a PITA. Doing it with a breaker bar sucks because you never know if the socket is going to go back onto the nut because of rotational alignment and stuff like the floor getting in the way. Doing it with a 24" big ass beefy ratchet is easy. The socket stays on the bolt head and you have to put half the amount of force in as compared to a 1/2" ratchet.

I know that Craftsman makes a 18" swivel head 1/2" drive ratchet, but it kinda sucks. I hate having to bring my tools in for warranty but it's nice to know that I can. What I'm trying to say is that I don't want to buy something knowing that I'm going to need the warranty.

I spent about $80. And I'd buy it again tomorrow. I've used the HF ratchet it's not even comparable to the one I have. I can see why you'd hate that one because it's the same length as your breaker bar, weighs more, and the ratchet in it sucks.

Never heard of a ratcheting adapter... I guess it would work. I wonder what its load rating is. I still don't like how flexy my breaker bar is and the cross pin always works its way out of the swivel joint.

35's on 17's looks awesome, but I don't know what tires are available in that size. Are you dead set on 17's? 16" cragars clear one ton ford brakes...

You should have just used a torque wrench. Problem solved.

Yes the HF ratchet sucks.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yes the HF ratchet sucks.
A friend of mine bought their torque wrench even though I told him I'd lend him my decent torque wrench. His loss...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't mind snow. I just want to ride my motorcycle and that's a no-go when there's salt on the road. .

CHORUS:
I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy...cle

It was late last night the other day
I thought I'd go up and see Ray
So l went up and I saw Ray
There was only one thing Ray could say, was:

CHORUS

This song is about the time that I was ridin' my motorcycle.
Going down a mountain road, at 150 miles an hour, playin'
my guitar. On one side of the mountain road there was a
mountain, and on the other side there was nothin' - there was
a cliff in the air.

Now, when you're going down a mountain road at I50 miles
an hour you gotta be very careful, especially if you're playin'
a guitar. Especially if that guitar is an acoustic guitar.
Because if it's an acoustic guitar, the wind pressure is greater
on the box side than on the neck side, because there's
more guitar on the box side. I wasn't payin' attention ..

Luckily I didn't go into the mountain - I went over the cliff.
I was goin' at 150 miles an hour sideways and 500 feet down
at the same time.

I knew it was the end. I looked down, I said ''Wow! Some
trip". I thought it...well I knew it was...I knew it was my last
trip, and in my last remaining seconds in world,I decided
to write one last farewell song to the world.

Put a new ink cartridge in my pen. Took out a piece of paper.
I sat back and I thought awhile. Then I started writin':
I don't want a pickle
Just want to ride on my motorsickle
And I don't want a tickle
'Cause I'd rather ride on my motorsickle

And I don't want to die
Just want to ride on my motorcy ...cle."

I knew that, it wasn't the best song l ever wrote, but I didn't
have time to change it. I was comin' down mighty fast.

But as you all know, and as fate would have it, I didn't die. I
landed on the top of a police car. And he died. I drove away
on the road that he was on. I came into town at a screamin'
175 miles an hour, playin' the motorcycle song.

I came into town, I jumped off my bike, the bike went around
the corner by itself, went up on the stand by itself, turned
itself off.

I walked over to my friend. He was standin' there eatin'
pickles. I said "Hi, what's happenin'?" He looked at me in the
eye and said "Nothin'".

You gotta sing it with that kind of enthusiasm. Like you just
squashed a cop...

Just viewing the URL, yes, it is.

I'm staying my ass away from anything having to do with that song, lest it return to earworm status...

a bunch of stuff about tools

I've never owned or needed a 3/4" drive anything.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Where are those lyrics from?

Yeah, I'm not watching the original either.

I have one 3/4" drive socket. Otherwise 1/2" or 3/8" works for everything else. Breaker bar + pipe works great if something is really that bad. I just use an impact to remove lugnuts.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I have a 3/4" drive socket and ratchet for one reason, the lug nuts on the 5-ton. They're 1.5" and take a significant amount of torque.

I use a spider for lugs usually. Keep one in every jeep... I did bend one of them a while ago because some of the lugs were really, really tight.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Could you imagine the stuff I could break with 3/4" drive stuff? :firedevil

I have a 1/2" drive impact 8mm socket, im not allowed to use it on anything.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I resent being included in that short list :lecture: I haven't and won't listen to that song just from what I've heard from others. Jenn tried to play it for me but I left the room. :spin1:

My 36mm socket for D30 hub nuts was my first 3/4 drive socket but I used it with a 1/2 to 3/4 adapter...

I discovered that I need a few more sizes of box wrenches. Don't have 13/16 or 7/8. I swear that I own a 23mm box wrench too, but I couldn't find that either...

jesus, what is even the point of that? Is it intended to break every bolt it touches?

My only guess is that it's so you can use it on a regular impact wrench turned all the way down without having to find a 1/2 to 3/8 impact adapter.
