THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Pouring for a garage already? YES! :D
Not soon.

The driveway first (this alone will take me awhile), then the house and barn foundations will be poured at the same time.
Just got to get my ducks in a row now for permitting and cost estimates.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sick.

Be sure to leave some weekends open for racing.

:D

Oh btw...Chris, what all is needed to race in Line Mtn? Do you need a window net, helmet, fire suit, or anything? Or just cage/harnesses?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Think they can pick up a spring-less, tire-less hulk? All I'd want to pull off it is radios, OHC, winch, springs, and wheels/tires, and I would probably just sell it for bottom dollar there and then and build new up here. I'm planning to bring a metric asston of spare parts (like, more than I usually do) but I'm sure something will break that I don't have with me. This is all worst case, best-case I'll have the M54A2 down there and will be hauling the stupid thing home again after.

They probably would, might not give you as much for it, but they'd probably drag it up.

I couldn't find a picture quick comparing them, but here is a picture comparing the posts and then the larger lift stops:

Right, so the higher the capacity, the larger the components. Got it, thanks for clarifying. :D

Window net, yes. Helmet, yes. Fire suit, no.

For the window net I just got one of the universal ones from summit that best-fit the opening. Actually I may need to get different ones when I do the door bars so you can maybe just have mine.

The latch is one of my old seatbelts, that's actually a pretty standard way of doing it.

I kept forgetting to save the .pdf everytime you posted it, sue me :D

If you decide to part with the net let me know, I'll run it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I highly doubt either of our trucks are over 7k lbs (unloaded duh). I joke about it, but I don't think that's possible.

No way you'd ever get Ross's old man's truck on a lift like that either (not that I'd ever want to own something that big)

The Dirtymax is 10k+.

Pretty much if I pull anything more then my jeep/trailer behind it, I techincally need a CDL Class A lincense.

Ross, hear back from Andy?

I was gunna text you. He had to get some of the adapter thru his supplier and they were supposed to drop ship it to me I guess. Hes supposed to be checking the progress of them.

There's no way the curb weight of that thing is 10k+ lbs. GVWR sure, but not curb weight.

Sounds good, just let me know. Was hoping for them by this weekend. If you forgot to mention 2.25" OD then I want my money back.

Its 10k+, thats why we have to take it to a big rig shop for the $129 inspection sticker

EDIT: I know the GVWR is like 11400, maybe thats what the inspection goes off. It doesnt list the curb wieght on the door tag but I quick google search said like 8k :dunno:

I told him 2.25" OD multiple times, if he effs that up its not my fault. I think thats why its taking so long, not many people order them and he didnt even have any in stock/on the shelf.

Won't you need a pair of nets?
I'll obviously take care of my helmet/suit portion.

Sorry to break it to you Ross, but you are incorrect.
According to Chevy, the curb weight for your 4x4 CC Dually is only 6393lbs to 6537lbs (depending on options). Up to a GCWR of 26,000lbs (IIRC) can be done on a Class D. That truck would be legally overloaded well before that point.

It's not 10k+, get over it.

Yeah no problem, I believe ya. If it happens, we'll figure something out.

Crap you're right.

If you GVWR is 10k+ and the trailer is over 10k+, you fall into a weird gray zone. Techincally you do need a Class A, I know somebody that had a dually with a larger 5th wheel camper behind it and the statie told him this and he got a :nono: The 26k and under can be done on a Class D if its one vehicle/two axles, thats how I get away with driving a flatbed truck.

Thats also specifically why my boss got his new truck with a GVWR of 9900 and a 16k trailer so it can be driven on a Class D. Hes dealt with all the weights and lincenses before, I went thru the CDL book and it told me that too

correct. Up to GVWR or GCWR (not sure which) of 26000 with no air brakes (vacuum over hydraulic and air over hydraulic are both OK) you can drive it with class D. 26001lbs, or air brakes, and you need CDL, or should go take a dump, roast the tires a bit, and see if that gets you under the limit.

A pair of nets is what I'd give him, as I'd obviously need a new pair as well. :p

I wear my firesuit there anyway, just because I have one, but all you need are jeans and a cuffed long-sleeve shirt.

Are you planning on leaving the windshield in? I did that the first race, it was...interesting. :)

You end up a muddy disaster by the end of it anyway, that's why the one-piece fire suit is nice, you don't have to change clothes instantly when you finish...

Goddammit, I can''t wait to blast down the I-80 stretch again. That's my favorite part of their course. My XJ is 82" wide...there can't be more than a foot on either side, maybe less at times, and it's this straight shot through the woods for like a quarter mile that you just pin it and hold on to your butts. I've hit 50 through there and it feels like you're going 100. And it ain't that smooth a stretch, either. :D
