Hopefully there's some happy bubbles in the mix as well

going to harbor frieght tomorow with a $50ish limit, 25 of that is bein spent on c clamps, anything else worth buying with the other 25, how are there cutoff disc?
Nasty PM was from hexguy, I guess he saw the post where I found his original HS project, and didn't like it too much. Had a few choice words for me. As they say in Jamaica, No worries.
I might be missing something here but after all it takes to make an xj like this why not just build a tube buggy?
My first guess was booze. Now I'm convinced it's moonshine. So far our fermenting buckets have been producing mad bubbles for almost a week now.
Water, corn meal, sugar, yeast.
Hopefully by the time the yeast dies out, we'll have the rest of it figured out. Got a few pieces to play with for now.
I saw that and thought of myselfHey Anthony!
x2. He's worse, IMO.I really want someone to go off on that onetonXJ guy too.

That's about the only corn-based liquor that gets distilled in sheds that I can think of :laugh3::gag:
I've tried before and it's just completely un-fun. His head is so far up his ass, he's looking out of his mouth.
Hope you cleaned those pails real well and are keeping them airtight while fermenting, wouldn't want any methanol in that flex fuel you're making.

I did my first set with a hand drill and a nothing special bit. Wasn't fun, but didn't really suck all that bad. I wouldn't hesitate to use the Milwaukee bits in my press, if I had to do it again. How much is it going to suck drilling through leaf springs?
Carmelo got me some carbide-tipped masonry bits due to some advice I read on Pirate from guys like ashman.
I don't want to run the stock center pins (5/16") for two reasons, one they're small and two Ross already drilled out the holes in the UBE plates for 9/16" heads which 3/8" socket cap bolts have.

You'll have to bring a some to NAC fest :shhh:Pails were all brand-new, and are each sealed with a vent line running through a waterlock. They're also being stored one of those Knaack jobox containers with an electric space heater to keep everything around 70*.
One out of the 4 isn't making bubbles; the lid looks like it might not have sealed in one area. We'll probably discard that one. The 3 remaining should still yield about a gallon to a gallon.5 of product when done.
The way that still is set up, we should be able to easily achieve 130+ proof after 3 distilling cycles. With some practice and testing I wouldn't be surprised to see 160+ in later batches.
The corn is actually just one variant; we have a separate 8-gallon jug going with only water, sugar, and distiller's yeast. The other 4 were all mixed with ordinary baker's yeast from the grocery store, and it's been surprisingly active. Actually the proof will probably be limited by the tolerance of the yeast more than anything.
Its not that bad. I drilled mine out to 7/16's. For as hard as I run, I wouldn't run anything smaller than that. I have bent/broken numrerous 5/16's, and 3/8's center pins. You'll still bend 3/8's, especially with those factory springs. Consider 7/16's since your doing it.
I used 4 sizes, all machine bits on slow speed with some cutting oil. I forget what size I ended with, but it was just a size larger than 7/16's (I think it was 29/64's...). Go see Billy at Fastenal.... that is where i got my drill bits (but at a Fastenal 10 mins from me...duh...). They weren't cheap, but they survived the hardened spring steel.
