Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i have re-welded those with great success.

the one i have now that glows orange on occasion holds up

I have to do this soon. Did you take it off the engine to weld it? I've heard of people having trouble bolting it back up after welding. I would imagine it would be alright since I'm not mentally retarded and I will take mind of warping it if I do it off the engine.

took it off. it bolted up fine.

For $150, if I'm pulling it, it's getting replaced.

thats what i was gonna do. but i randomly felt like fixing it one day and didnt want to wait for one

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'll weld the old one, but keep it as a back up. But I'm afraid to pull it off because I know I'm going to break a stud off in the head.

in my experience 4.0 studs are nice

9 times out of 10 I crack them with a 9/16" wrench and finger thread em out the rest of the way.

I have a broke stud in my head right now. It's from one of the PO's i'm assuming, or broke off on it's own? I have seen many studs broken on 4.0s. Usually the first one.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Projects are fun.

I just don't like having more than one at once. I feel like I never get anything done that way.
I kinda like having a bajillion going at once because there is always something I can make progress on if I want to.

Oh, and I found out that my header is cracked right at the collector. Go figure. Where the eff can I find those APN's?

And Ken, what were the thread size for the speed bleeders? XJ front, rear, and ZJ rear.
weld that shit up and throw it back on, you don't need a spare header (says the guy with a spare everything.) If it cracks again weld it again. Like 99% of all 4.0s are driving around with a cracked header and they don't give a shit either.

Xj fronts are 3/8-24, zj rears are the same but you have to shave the boss down very slightly for the regular speed bleeders to be long enough. Xj ones I think are some wonkoriffic metric thread and it might depend on what brand wheel cyls you have.

WHAT THE EFF
most people I know have at least 3 methods of contacting me. I'm textable, callable, on fb, on naxja/uj/steelsoldiers, on irc, and sometimes on aim. They don't need yet another way to bug me so I turned that stupid fb chat shit off.

Can I tap that?
might need a 3" NPT bottoming tap

you know how many 60 parts you can get for 150? Not many I guess but you get the point.

I've never busted a stud or bolt on my 4.0 headers. I had one back out of the head instead of the nut coming off once, big deal. Never had to use more than a 9/16 gearwrench.

I'm 99% sure I have a bad OSS, ground, or TCU on the 96  it is getting flakier but drives fine with the tranny unplugged. Otherwise it chooses gears randomly and usually gets stuck in 2nd regardless of gearshift position, which is odd because 2nd = both solenoids on. Most people end up stuck in OD if their aw4 electronics go south because that's both solenoids off, happens when they burn out. My gut says it is a ground or the TCU, if it is the TCU it will be the first I have ever seen go bad.
