THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah I just would have no idea what valving to get. I'll call around when it comes time to buy shocks.

depends on what you wanna do... crawling a priority or speed? or both? valving for speed will still work when crawling, just not as well.

chris's post in that JS thread a few days ago summed it up well.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The heims are removeable either way. The choice is between the cast aluminum parts or the billet aluminum parts.

you can get the upgrade for the 2.0's.

:D

you really dont need them per say... but why not? :D

sounds good to me.. lemme know when you know and i'll take off work.

and hmmm. ok. 2.5s it is.. mwhahaha

maybe ill stick the 2.0's in back and get 2.5's in front when i feel like spending more money.

i dont like the jks adapters either. those gotta go and i gotta get some real mounts in there

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Yeah but I have no idea what their definition of "medium-firm" or "firm" is, that's the problem.

So I'll be calling them to figure it out.

Easy, click each individual drop box one at a time and select the final option for each. The final option is always the best and most expensive option.

i think i have firm comp and medium rebound. the internets told me that was the closest to bilsteins 360/80 or whatever the eff it is

I have them and they should work ok for now, no? They did on my XJ. Granted there's a lot more weight being thrown around with the MJ.

they are good for temp. but they make my shock eyes sit at an angle i dont like. and i wanna outboard them at the top a little.

in my case without the 90* fittings itll make the eye sit perpendicular to the housing and resi mounting easier

and ive heard stories of them being ripped out and murdering master cylinders

you want them at an angle so they swing in rotation with the axle's path of travel. straight up and down stresses the mounts and the shock.

I planned on just calling them up and simply telling them- YO I GOT A HONCHO AND I'M GONNA RACE THIS SHIT AND DRIVE ON ROCKS I CAN SEND YOU A PICTURE OF THIS SHIT ITS XXXXING BEYOND AWESOME YOU'LL WANT TO GIVE ME YOUR SHOCKS FOR FREE BUT I'LL PAY FOR THEM I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH REBOUND I WANT, SET ME UP!

i like your plan :roflmao:

when flexing and jumpin the shock gets to all sorts of angles that one shock eye angle wont be perfect.

as long as the heims arent maxxed out it'll be fine.

but i have heard perpendicular to the axle tube works best for heim life. but its a pretty moot point.

my lower is perpendicular while my upper is angled all XXXXed up

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just figured both upper and lower mounted perpendicular to the axletube would be best on a 3-link/4-link with arm lengths close to equal considering there won't be much fore/aft movement right?

The misalignment of the heim/bushing could absorb that, while the heim would just rotate around the bolt during any suspension articulation.

thats exactly what i figured

BUT

if you are mounting them to your control arms. mount them parralel to the axle tube. (if using heims at each end of the arms)

and i just thought. you would want to run a bushing eyed shock on that control arm to keep it from flopping around.

I can see mounting them parallel to the axle tube on the control arm since it will be traveling in an arc.

But why is running a bushing a necessity...?

if you run heim joints on each end of the control arm. it will flop around in there. which isnt a big deal.

but if you run a heimed shock on top of that. chances are the shock will pull it level when the axle is drooping ,but when compressing the shock will twist the arm before it compresses.

Do what Sam tells you to you stupid idiot!

I imagine this will result in some truly goofy handling characteristics.
