Along with who used to take their XJ/MJ in the mud, what Colin wants to use as a driveshaft and auto/manual trans.

even if it's $3.50/ft you still get 214 ft.

If you use 214ft in your cage I'd be surprised or you had a lot of waste.

That sounds epic. The other thing I'd love to do someday is downhilling (mtb) in Canada. Hell, I could just go to Highlands too.

That's sorta what I figured. I expected to use ~150ft. Maybe a little bit more because of how much chassis I have to build.

What's the best automatic out there? (for a wheeling rig) Not talking about one of those fancy 8 spd tiptronic Mercedes autos or the DSG in the new VW's.

I built mine a few months after I got my job. I was living at home, had no car payment, and very few recurring expenses.

No idea how much it cost, didn't really care at the time. Nothing on credit, got parts as I needed to.

The first thing I put on a credit card for it - hell, the first thing I put on a credit card ever in my life - were the Maxxis Creepys. And that was because I had no interest in spending a shit-ton of money to go out to KOH 2009 and wheel on bald 39.5 Iroks.

Since then, some of the racing stuff has gone on the card too, in order to meet deadlines etc. I'm cool with that. I try and pay at least 8-10x the minimum payment every month (usually between $3-400). Should be gone completely in another month or two. It's got a decent interest rate and I don't bitch about paying interest on anything; that's the tradeoff to using it.

Where was I going with this? Oh yeah - shit's expensive. And adds up. Etc. I can't wait to build a new rig and actually have to have a budget.. :cry:

I'm building the next rig for 35's...probably with room to clear 37's, but likely running 35's for the most part.

My 38.5s are the biggest I'd ever go. Tim, a guy I race with, has the Maxxis 40" sticky creepys and he's often thought about going smaller.

Chris, I've seen that trend around here quite a bit. xjeeper, drmoab, and intrepidxj are a few names that ring bells. I've even thought about a new rig with 31's, maybe a skinny 32 max as an all purpose drive around rig.

Don't get me wrong, the 38.5's are great for trail riding. They fit the rig well, especially with the full-width axles. I love the hell outta those tires.

But the next rig is going to be very purpose-built for the woods & racing around here. Which means narrow and light...which means smaller tires for a variety of reasons. I'm cool with that.

As I've said before...it's kind of a mindXXXX thinking that I'm actually looking at running a high-pinion 35 and 8.8 rear again. :eek:

i think about shit like that all the time.

after going to a 35" radial i told myself i would never run a larger bias ply tire except for creepy crawlers.

oh look, i has creepy crawlers.

anyone on here interested in some new in box 3/4 ton chevy rotors for a rear disk swap on a 14bolt 70 or 60id like 60 for em they go for 40 or 50 a piece new lookin to unload stuff as i need cash as much as i dont want to there may be things from big jeep goin to
