funny.

What's sad is that in MA the cops would have given him a ticket for driving an unregistered vehicle.
My town's police would actually escort me around town in snowstorms while I drove my uncle's YJ and pulled people out /up hills. I was like 14 in a YJ with a 12" lift, 35's and locked front and rear.

He built it before LCOG was the cool thing to do. And when non c clip 35's and disco 30's were the norm. :D

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

To this day I still wonder how I'm like the only person on the planet to nuke 760 joints reliably on 33s. :dunce:

Why do you need two driveshafts to do that?

All the shafts I've ever made are done that way...except I used 1.75" x .25 wall in the middle. Just used the last few inches of OEM tube on both ends.

Wait - nevermind, I get it. 2" x .120 wall is probably not a good choice, especially for something that long. I'm just not a fan of the typical thin-wall tube they use for driveshafts. One dent and you're XXXXed.

Any idea how long it's gotta be? I'd check out this place:

http://www.speedymetals.com

I've used them before with great results. You can buy exactly the length you need of any size tube, and their selection is amazing. Pricing's really not bad too...especially compared to some of the numbers I've seen in this thread. :D I'd consider getting a length of either 3/16" or 1/4" wall 1.75" DOM to build the main part of the shaft out of, and just use the stock tube as a sleeve to align the yokes like I've done.

Or say XXXX it, for what you're doing...run a square tube shaft. :)

I'm going to be constructing all of my upcoming driveshafts with a mix between a collection of XJ and explorer driveshafts, pipe, axle shafts, and DOM stolen from truck driveshafts. I'm starting a business, Carmelo's custom driveshafts- $20 a piece any length. Comes complete with used U joints. I also got the hookup on axle & driveshaft flanges.

Mine too. Drinking a coffee and throwing the bird at everyone with a veedub!

I can easily drive my comanche while eating a sandwich and drinking a coffee and maneuvering around the idiots that walk the streets of brockton everyday.

my god, that's terrible.

I'm wondering what is going to happen when I drive the M54A2 around town during snowstorms... assuming I get it finished before the snow melts. If not, I am hoping for massive flooding, and with this much snowpack will probably get it since Southbridge is in a river valley. In fact I'm like 300 feet from the river and thankfully about 50-60 feet above it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Bill, that joke is awesome. Just got one of my coworkers with it.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just want to go home and work on my junk.

I'm hoping to get the 1.5 x .250 ram mount tie ins done tonight, and then get the coil mounts done and tied in tomorrow.

If I have time I'll start on the trackbar.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I just can't wait to drive my comanche without a gross front end. I put my washer fluid bottle back in and noticed my shock bushings are so squished the nut isn't even tight.

For those that haven't heard me talking about it, I'm too poor to afford a storage container anymore. So I am going to use up everything that it's there because most of it is awesome stuff. Within the next few weeks I'm going to have to put the following in the comanche.

New dana 30
front shocks
control arms
gas tank
rear slider
vent windows
fix passenger side door
hood
tailgate
transmission + transfer case
rear 44 with metric ton springs

The Honcho just has
H1 rims(I'll have to recenter them)
Twin sticks

The rest are parts I have room to store or am giving away/throwing out.

my cherokee's front end is so bad.. the TREs are all shot the only thing holding it in place is the rock krawler trackbar.

add saggy leafs and coils spacers up front without sways.. its bad.

im not fixing it bc the 44 is going in in a couple months.. lol

as usual my back yard is available as a spare parts dumping ground, start a pile in your own corner. If my neighbors continue to be asshats the front yard will become available as a spare parts dumping ground as well.

that's why I'm not fixing anything important on my 98 too. The exhaust is dragging ass, like 2 inches off the ground, I'm gonna find some steel coathangars and attach it to something soon. I don't want to waste a hundred bucks on a new exhaust when I will want to get the axles/suspension in before doing the real exhaust overhaul.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sweet. Manual focus? It might freeze the image a little more if you used flash but leave a ghost behind it. It might also be neat to dump more light into it and just use a faster shutter speed.

EH

Shot TREs
Wrong trackbar is in my comanche w/ shot TRE up top
Collapsed coil bucket
No sway bar
Shocks are only there to make an appearance
Bad wheel bearing
Control arms are GROSS, truck bounces forward and back for a minute after I stop
Pass side caliper is held in by one bolt

I think that's it

All of it is being taken care of in a couple days.
