Colin, you could cut the front of the bumper out so you can get to the back of the hitch, weld the hitch shut, then weld the piece you cut out back in. It'd take more time, but that's probably the route I'd go.

Meh...I just don't want to go through that.

I'll just seam seal it.

One of my worst pet peeves is reworking stuff.

One of my worst pet peeves is halfassing a fix.
For me. I've never had great luck with glues and epoxies. They're very fickle - knowing which one is the best one for the job and having everything right and usually I'm too lazy to do a proper prep job.

That's your main problem. Nothing wrong with seam sealer, just scuff the surfaces and clean it up then you're good to go. Not hard to do.

I already seam sealed my wheel wells and that stuff is hard as rock now and is NOT coming off. I also didn't skimp and got the 3M autobody sealant.

Not to mention this isn't half-assing it since it's not structural. I just don't want water getting in the bumper if I can help it.

psh, I don't care about the weather, but it is an added bonus. it'd be cool to be there even if it was 35*F and sleeting.
