THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I hope not. :( those things are impossible to find and stupid rare. More rare than MJ hitches. Had I known he had one, I would have paid him $100 for it and given you one of the thousand CJ hitches out back to hack up.

Apparently so was the bedliner in my MJ that I junked.

Along with the rear fender flares I hacked apart.

DON'T CARE.

the sad thing is that aside from the rust on the tops of the bedsides on my MJ bed, every single bad part of it would have been cut out if we'd traded beds :roflmao:

If I ever end up doing a big roadtrip one of the requirements will be that I go through the south somewhere and get a spotless MJ bed, I'm tired of mine looking like shit.

This bed wasn't mint. Behind the rear flares was all rusted and the backside of the outer wheel well skin that sits between the outer/inner bedsides was completely scaling, and it was paper thin.

Thankfully all that got cut out

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh and I once pulled a Ford van with my red 2-door XJ up a hill using a strap with hooks on each end.

I put the hook through one of the holes on the rear crossmember.

Any harder of a pull and it would have ripped out.

I made $20 though :D

oh wow, didn't even realize that. Mine's the same just more advanced, plus the tops of the bedsides are 100% bondo and house paint, and it's covered in dents. Oh, and the tailgate is bent to shit because it's had both a 4.0 and a d60 slam into it multiple times, I had to jump on it to get it to close again :laugh2:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There's a square hole in my rear bumper that was gonna get a receiver put in it.

4 years later I haven't once felt the need to have one.

If he had room to face mount it, fine...but I wouldn't want to add a rock anchor to something when there are other recovery options on the table.
Heck, I've already used mine a few times.

Hey, I'm with you there. Mine is up high enough where I don't hit it on anything. I told him to hack that rear end up, comp cut it, then go right across to gain some height but he wanted stock lights and a tailgate. Oh well.

Why even keep the bed at that point

I also would like to make NACfest.

Oh, I also measured a 70-75º departure angle. Don't know why I just remembered that from two weeks ago.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

What if I just recess the hitch into the 2x5, and just have it stick out enough to get the pin in...?

If I were gonna do that, I'd still probably drill a new hole as close to the front of it as I possibly could.

My departure angle is really good and it still annoys me. I hit it all over the place.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Call me nuts but I'd keep the tail lights and tailgate too.

Also I think you should weld a really big recovery hook to the diff cover on your rear axle.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Add the horizontal tabs like Chris suggested then weld the receiver underneath. If you find you are getting annoyed with it and not using it. Hack it off with a grinder in about 45sec.

I haven't had an issue with my departure angle. ;) 88-89 degrees.

I'm glad I cut all that crap off :D

Too bad it's going to be a while before I benefit from its removal.

Yours looks a little worse than mine...?

Either way, I wanted to keep the bed for now.

Yeah I'm keeping them for now. If it pisses me off after a while I'll chop the back off.

I think if I do that, I could get it to stick out no more than 1.5" at most. Considering I'm going to have shackle hangers out back there as well, I doubt it will stop me from much.

I might go that route.
