THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i recessed mine into the bumper. but i had 4" of bumper to work with.

you have like 2".

id probably cut out a section of it and burn that bitch in there

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

did you know you can wheel 8" of lift and 35's hard for 7 years and the stock steering holds up fine?
I know exactly what thread you are talking about... the guy is from WA/OR as I recall, give up, given the way his jeep is "built" he probably has about 4 teeth and a meth habit

Recovery point...?

I can't attach d-ring tabs to the mounts in any way shape or form since my shackles are going be in that area.

I could do some flat face ones similar to JCR and wrap them around the bottom of the bumper.
Can you put some mounts on the top face of the bumper behind the tail-lights? Not sure how much it sticks out from the back of the bed.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'd like to keep whatever d-ring tabs I add as close to the mounts as possible.

Still not sure what I wanna do.

I'll probably just hold off on doing anything until I figure it out.

I COULD just do d-ring tabs...the hitch was just easier.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I guess I COULD do d-ring tabs.

Just do this. You've got the steel for it, right? Two tabs facing horizontally. Done & clean.

Or use this kind:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

^^^ that's going to start a religious war right there

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

what happened to just throwing a tow strap around the axle? :smoker:
I prefer tying some $10/100ft home depot rope around the shackle and getting a running start.

(back before I knew anything I actually did yank a friend's honda out of snowbanks a few times this way)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh, and crappy pic but Carmelo had a leftover piece of hitch tubing off his Honcho. I just have to cut some of the excess crap off. It literally fit like perfect.

please don't tell me that was a factory j-truck full hitch that you guys cut up! hopefully it was just some ghetto fab not original hitch on there, right??

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

leaf spring shackle ftw
I've done that and had it done to me a few times.

One time I was in the UMass parking lot and there was a 2wd Ranger trying to back out of his downward sloping icy parking spot. He had no tow points so I hooked it up and gave him a gentle tug.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

hmmmm should i get out of bed to make some tasty frech toast? or lay in bed till i have work..... decisions decisions...
my gramma's makin me some french toast, eggs, and bacon now :D
Have your girlfriend make the french toast?
hey, who invited you to the NAC?

.!.:D.!.
leaf spring shackle ftw

thats how i used to pull my old friends jeep out, was the cleanest 2000 classic you had ever seen. he lifted it 4.5" w/ rough country AAL and kept the stock tires on it for like 5 months

he had no tow points then when he finally got tires they were 33x10.5's

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I don't think I'd build anything without a receiver (well 4x4 related anyway).

There's a square hole in my rear bumper that was gonna get a receiver put in it.

4 years later I haven't once felt the need to have one.

If he had room to face mount it, fine...but I wouldn't want to add a rock anchor to something when there are other recovery options on the table.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Colin, how about some d ring tabs going horizontal instead of the traditional vertical? Then you could just lay it on the bottom of the 2x5, this would give you ~12" of welding along the edges and maybe a couple plugs in there too. Follow me?

Hell yeah I hope we did.

True. The only reason I kind of want one is I've had to use my XJ before to turn the trailer around in my driveway because backing it up causes a traffic jam since my road is a cut through for people.

I could do that yeah.

I was thinking of doing something like my LCA tabs on my crossmember? Would look cleaner.

Depends on how well my torch cuts it. Rather not spend the time with a cutoff wheel.

What a great idea! :D

Do a centered tab then with a big enough hole to drop a trailer ball in if you have to. Class I style. :)

Honestly I'd have no issue at all with 3/4" or 1" tabs welded directly to the 2" face of the 2x5.

I hope not. :( those things are impossible to find and stupid rare. More rare than MJ hitches. Had I known he had one, I would have paid him $100 for it and given you one of the thousand CJ hitches out back to hack up.
