THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

dude, asking him for hard numbers is just gonna kill this way too fast :laugh2:

I'd settle for a conceptual explanation of what 'raising the instant center above center' means. That one has my brain in a knot.

(for those of you following along at home: the 'instant center' is the imaginary point where lines drawn along the upper & lower control arms converge when viewed from the side, and it's the point that the axle 'rotates' around at that static position. I'm awaiting a backpedal of 'that's not what I meant'.)

Don't expect a response. I've called him out in two different threads asking why he thinks 3/4" rod ends are ok for lower control arms. No response.

I give up on that fellow, I just feel bad for those that buy the "kits".
So continuing my trend of being influenced by marketing campaigns...has anyone had the Burger King Stuffed Steakhouse yet?
Nope, sounds good.
Quadstacker FTW.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I think he means something like this... imagine you are building a redneck show truck. Get some 3 foot long pieces of square tube and some 4 foot long pieces. Weld them all to the top of the axle housing pointing straight up. The 3 foot long pieces get your LCA mounts installed in the top ends, the 4 foot long pieces get your UCA mounts installed in them. Now build your links (all about 16 inches long) and mount them to the stock locations on the frame.

The instant center, if I understand it, will be somewhere in the stratosphere, up near the tops of the LCA/UCA mount stilts... while the center of the axle will be below them (i.e. the instant center is now above the center of the axle.) Clearly this is an extreme case, but it shows what he's talking about, and it would result in some pretty strong forces on the welds holding the axle mount stilts to the axle tube (and the bolts and rod ends on the links, too.)

How much is it going to affect a setup where you move the LCA mount from below to above the tube? not very much, IMO. Still sorta a bad idea because you end up with coil perches well above the tube.

EDIT: BK's quad stackers are tiny and kinda gross, I prefer the triple whopper.

I know what you're getting at, but that alone isn't uncommon.

The instant center for my rear axle is the diamond at the bottom right of this diagram:

If I raise the axle end mounts, that diamond drops, and the green dashed line (my anti-squat) drops too. The anti-squat % is the slope of the green line over the slope of the purple dashed line - if they're equal, you have 100% AS.

The purple dashed line is the vector of your COG acting on the rear tire contact patch. If your AS% is greater than 100, the green line is steeper than the purple line, giving the 'lift' associated with higher AS% numbers.

Interesting.

This is why I run my mouth here instead of in that thread :dunce:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You really want to freak someone out?

For the 'infinate force fan club', ask them this. If your axle mounts are a little below the axle centerline, but you take and adjust your upper links slightly so the mounts are now level or pointing up a litle bit, does that mean your junk spontaneously explodes?

God forbid that might happen naturally as the pinion rotates with the axle traveling up and down. Be careful, you don't want to hit that one spot where your axle suddenly divides by zero.

mind = blown

oh yeah... I had some fun baiting a corvette driver on my way home last night. Pulled even and stayed even, he took off... must have been a bit surprised when I threw it in second gear doing 85. The 96 might not be pretty, or get good gas mileage, or even be that good offroad, but it can haul ass when I want it to.

im actually a fan of the stackers, there the ones with bacon and that special sauce right?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

yeah... burger patties, cheese, bacon, and BBQ sauce I think.

The burgers are too small, IMO. I grew up eating pretty big burgers, about the size of 3-4 whopper patties stuck together.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i was a fan of the bacon jalepano melt thing from wendy's a while back

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh yeah, that was good for sure.

This Stuffed Steakhouse thing is a burger with japapenos and chedder chopped up in the burger patty. Could either be delicious or gross...I'm betting it falls somewhere around "meh".

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Just ate chinese food. Friday afternoon food coma time.

doubt its as awesome as a mcrib... or even close to a mcgangbang.

not really a bk fan.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

The McRib was awesome until I actually looked at it, and ruined the experience for myself.

It looks like there are bones. But there aren't. I'd rather it just be amorphic than try and look like a rack of ribs on a bun.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

BK>Mcdonalds

i may feel that way because there's a mcdonald's right down the road from my house and i always rode my bike there as a kid so now im just sick of it
