THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

be cool and use octagon and 7/8" heims
I think it was hex bar actually... amazingly the guy got in a bad accident (he's ok) with a semi truck and none of the hex bar or heims got damaged. Bent the shit out of his un-braced/gusseted formed 1/4" plate crossmember and tore some link mounts off the axle, but I was fairly impressed by how those arms stood up. I'm guessing it was the fact that the force was applied along the arms rather than sideways, as would happen if you landed one on a rock.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You're making me looking like I just throw away money here.

I mentioned it might be a good investment idea rather than buy cut lengths of DOM and tube adapters. All my links are just 1018 or 1020 DOM, I've already bent my 1.75" OD 0.375" wall lowers up front. My 2" OD 0.375" wall lowers out back are perfect. If the front LCAs get worse I'll either replace them with the same as out back or cost justify the Heretic Fab versions.

But you do? :D Just kidding.

Yeah I remember our conversation, that's why I asked.

I can't weld shock tabs to the control arms so that throws out that idea. I have to figure out where I can put shock mounts with my control arm mounts as short as they are.

I have to look and see if I can do two tabs off the outboard LCA tab.

I would mount the upper/top of the shock first and see where they end up/need to be. That is really the only way you are going to be able to tell.
What are you doing for top mounts?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

my shock mounts are on my control arms. i have really never seen anyone else do it that way

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Oh yeah.

Here's the list of stuff:
7 orbital mach. (machines?) (2 dimeterics, 1 arc 107, 4 arc 207)
8 dimetrics orbital heads (2 mini heads DMF A1, 2 5002 heads, 2 5004 heads, 2 5001 heads)
4 ARC machine heads (2 750 heads, 1 1500 head, 1 2500 head)
12 Miller TIG rigs - 1 XMT304 220/460V, 6 Maxstar 91 115V, 1 Syncrowave 250 480V, 4 Maxstar 200 115V
1 borescope, GE model number XLG3 base unit, w/ XLG3 probe, 4MM probe (10ft long)
1 steam generator
1 DI water system (don't think anyone is gonna want this so not typing specifics)
1 weld lathe, 36". Lathe 0420014 PWL-15M-36-1
1 gravograph IS400 engraver
1 Powermax 800 plasma cutter
1 Rigid model 300 threading machine
1 Bridgeport (no specifics)
1 Hemsaw multi-cutoff saw, V100L M-3
1 Dake 350ST cold metal cut-off saw
1 Scotchman iron worker (shear/bend/punch) model 6509
1 Jet JMD15 mill/drill with stand
2 Wilton 14 inch vertical bandsaws
1 Southbend quick change gear lathe, 10 inch
1 jet belt sander and disc grinder
2 stud guns (?)
2 George Fisher cutoff saws
2 air dryers (IR Drystar DS25 portable compressed air)
2 acid etcher kits with computer generated stencil kits, etcho-matic by martronics corp
5 facing tools (2 protem 468, 2 Wach, 1 Tri-Tool)
3 pallet jacks
21 hose reels by central pneumatic, 50ft hoses
15 gang boxes
5 2.5" TC silicone flex hoses, SST end connections, 12 foot lengths
1 assorted office furniture (5 sets of matching desks, tables, shelves... gotta buy it all I think)
1 cubical pile (6 modular cubicles with desks, walls, shelving, chairs)

I have pictures but I'm not gonna spend time downloading and uploading them unless people want specifics.

Personally I have my eye on one of those 115V TIG rigs, maybe a bandsaw, maybe a lathe... but if I spend money on anything it'll probably be a TIG.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Where the hell is that coming from Ken?
a chemical/process equipment manufacturing plant that is a former competitor of a college friend of mine's company. They decided to stop competing with my friend and he's on the list of people who have been requested to put offers on any or all of the equipment.

Basically the plan is that people submit offers, if your offer is the best and it gets accepted, the stuff will either be shipped free (if within 75mi of Brookline NH) direct to you, or shipped to me in Worcester and I can distribute it from there.

Oh, and yeah, where to put the upper mount would be an interesting one :roflmao: might be for the best though, since I'm betting it's going to get aired out, your stock upper coil mounts and shock mounts are probably not going to last.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Makes sense. That tower does get folded forward pretty bad from what I've seen.

Any idea what tore all those spot welds out of Bill's inner fender? I figured it was a combination of the bumpstop tower and the shock and a couple tenths of a second spent in the sky.

As much as I should not inquire, I have to. Details or a phone number to call about please. You can PM me if you want.

Pay attention to yesterday. :)

Just unsupported sheet metal spot welds = not strong.
The bumper tower did it's job and that's why they failed.

The maxstar 90's are gunna be 110V. The maxstar 200's are gunna be 220V. The XMT304 is like what I got, its a DC invertor setup for TIG.

I'll ask about the stuff, and ask if I can forward his info to you.

Ross - thanks for the info, I don't know much about welders. Just transcribing the info that was given to me.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So Ken, can we go and look at this stuff beforehand?
Not sure. The guy who forwarded it to me is allowed to look at it, but I'm not sure if I am, or if you guys are.

Also, it seems I missed some info. Delivery is only provided on stuff that can fit in a pickup, which counts out the bridgeport. I can pick it up with the 5ton if they can load it (they have pallet jacks, and should have a loading dock, so we should have no problems here) if we can find a way to get it out of the back.

Single day auction? Id make a trip to look at stuff if possible. Picking stuff is no biggie either, I work as a rigger, I can move anything ;)

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Curious on the price of the syncrowave 250 or the maxstar 200. I know I would get shot if I brought it home, and don't have the money for it though.

How much are those 50 foot hose reals?
