Bill was saying to have the little tie rods from the cylinder to the arm toe'd out a little when the tires are pointed straight so that on full lock they aren't at a severe angle.

With that logic, why would I not want to drill them as far as comfortably possible to keep the ram away enough from the axle and keep room for a trackbar?

The further out you place the holes, the more travel your ram needs to steer to full lock. Which equals more fluid that needs to flow.

Closer in means less travel, less fluid, but more pressure needed for the same amount of steering force. It's easier to get more pressure than it is to get more flow.

The idea with the tie rods is that you want them inline with the ram shaft at full extension, to minimize side loading (possibility for bending the ram shaft or damaging the shaft guides/seals). Just by how things move this results in them being angled when the wheels are pointed straight.

One thing to consider is mounting the trackbar in front of the ram. If you're building a hoop/truss thing to mount the ram anyway, putting the trackbar mount further towards the front of the truck isn't that big a deal. Then you just need to move the frame mount forward too.

Deal. I think I might make a new bottom piece outta 3/8" instead of the 3/4" piece ive already got, itll tuck up nicer and not leave a lip on the transition.

I actually saw that on someone's build on pirate, where they mounted the trackbar on the hoop/truss thing.

I might actually do that.

Also...any reason I shouldn't run a Yukon Spartan over a Lockright? It's $40 cheaper.

Actually, to clarify - the Spartan isn't Yukon, it's Standard Gear.

The Yukon Grizzly is their lunchbox style one, and those are what I was thinking of. I'd rock one.

Also, do you think going 2" OD x 0.250" is good for LCAs? I remember talking with Bill about getting some heat treated chromo arms from Heretic Fab because the price was decent.

My LCAs are 33.5" from eye to eye.

The Heretic Fab links have gotten real good reviews from everyone I know running them.

My 2 x .25 DOM lowers are all bent a little bit, but you're gonna be less heavy than I am, so it's probably fine. Especially with the heat treat & chromo.

You're making me looking like I just throw away money here. :laugh:

I mentioned it might be a good investment idea rather than buy cut lengths of DOM and tube adapters. All my links are just 1018 or 1020 DOM, I've already bent my 1.75" OD 0.375" wall lowers up front. My 2" OD 0.375" wall lowers out back are perfect. If the front LCAs get worse I'll either replace them with the same as out back or cost justify the Heretic Fab versions.
