THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

anybody have and bright ideas for turning xj seats into office chairs or just something comfy to sit in at the shop? im drawing blanks on the design

get an office chair, take the bottom off of it. make a base on the xj seat, bolt together, done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Buy an office chair that has the seat bolt to the base and make a mount for the seat to bolt to the base. Done.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sweet, I'll look into them.

I had sitting on a shelf:

2X Alpine Type R 6.5" components
2X Alpine Type R 6.5" coaxials
1x JL 250/1 D class monoblock
1x Alpine MRV-F345 (75W RMS x4)
1x 1.25 cuft sealed box with 12" hole
1x blown JL 12w3v2-4
1x Alpine CDA-9881
Tons of wiring and 2 inline fuses

I ordered
2x Dayton RS225-4
2x Dayton RS100-4
2x Vifa XT25SC90-04
1x Alpine MRP-F300 (50W RMS x4)
50 sq ft B Quiet Ultimate
13.5 sq ft B Quiet Vcomp
1x Memhpis 16-X03

100 ft 14ga speaker wire
25 ft 1/0 power wire

I need 2 more relatively short RCA cables, a 150A fuse, a 1/0 terminal, and some MDF.

It's going to sound like a concert hall in mah car (9 channels, 11 speakers). I know Bill is going to make fun of me and probably call me all sorts of names, including something referencing Hispanics and their slammed S10s. They run systems designed for max SPL. This system is designed with sound quality in mind, though it won't be all that quiet either. I'll be pushing 750W RMS total.

I have no idea what any of that means. Sounds expensive but probably worth it?

I wouldn't mind having a nice sound system...but I always find something better to buy.

oh you fancy.

i require above average sound systems in every car i own. the subie had a real nice setup with an amp and all that.. but i'm fine with my kenwood excelon deck, polk 6.5s all around and 10" polk dvc sub being pushing buy a 460w rms infinity amp in the jeepz0r.

oh and all the speakers (and sub) are marine grade, mmmm.

I have plans for this for basement/shop chairs for the house... get old broken office chairs from friends/family/the side of the road on trash day, remove the tops, cut up the XJ seat brackets, weld metal in between until project is done.

After it's installed we'll go for a drive. I'll show you real lateral G's and let your ears orgasm.

Some of you may remember that I used to have the stuff that was sitting on the shelf in my XJ. It was nice but not amazing. And what's in my GTI sucks compared to what I had. I wanted moar, so I boughtsed it.

I'll steal my dad's Challenger afterwards and show you what real torque feels like :D

i also want to come.

oddly sexual responses seem to work here.

x2

Black jeep has Alpine speakers and an Alpine deck with the factory Infinity amp and tweeters. Red jeep has Sony's first ever CD deck and some Pioneers for walmart (front speakers only). Im kinda temped to swap the decks and speakers around.

3 way active fronts baby :wave1:

Sweet. I'll bet it's miles better than what it came with. I just couldn't find a drop in setup I liked for mine, so I pieced it together. It's a little more expensive, but I'll have the satisfaction of knowing I put it together and tuned it. I'm not going to bother with a DSP or time alignment...

Marine grade is a good idea for the jeep.

Deal.

I know your Dad's Challenger has a ridiculous amount of power, but it's fairly heavy IIRC. I wonder how my Dad's Z06 would fair against it in a straight line... Around turns the Z06 would easily win. We'll never find out because my father would never participate in such childish activity :thumbdn:

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

He's gone fast in it alone, but he won't tell me how fast he's gone and where. I'm sure he boots it when he's alone. I don't care too too much for speeding, but getting up to the speed limit in the blink of an eye is fun. I don't really see him taking turns all that hard either...

Hey, you have to mask the sound of a lame 4cyl and everyone laughing at a VW as you drive by somehow right?

:D
Adam gets around.
No to me. :bawl:

Yay middle school fights! "My dad's car would beat your dad's cars but Tommy's dad was looking at a turbo and NOS. He saw him looking at a part in a catalog that would do..."

Get your own toys. :)

I'd say just north of 3500 lbs, so yeah not too light.

Main problem for my dad is lack of traction.

He's never taken it to a track so no idea how it would do. I've also never ridden in a Z06.

It has a nice exhaust note, thank you very much :moon: (It's turbo'd too.)

Nah, I was just theorizing. They're both awesome, just different.

Lighter than I expected. IIRC, the Z06 is 3200#.

I doubt my dad has ever lit up the tires. :confused1

I've been in it a few times but he's never done anything interesting with me in the car.

He had a horrible time shifting the day he got it. It has a B&M short throw shifter which is like 50% shorter throw than anything he's ever driven before.
